R&G Racing frame sliders
Been asked to give a bit of info on the frame sliders on my bandit so here it is
I purchased them from R&G Racing in the UK. I got the kit that is designed for a GT version of the bandit as I didn't like the thought of using the front engine mount as the tie point for the sliders. It's a personal thing I guess but that's why I went for the other version The GT version of the sliders mount a little higher up the frame making the sliders about middle point of the bike top to bottom - roughly.
Cost to me was less than $500 for 2 kits (one went on my wifes GSX650F) delivered to my door. To get them in Oz was going to be heaps more.
I had no probs mounting the kit except for one thing. As I started to tighten the RH frame bolts one of them striped before it reached it's correct tork. Was I pissed or what considering as I was trying to get the bolt out again, I stuffed the nut at the same time. Now the nut is from the bike and the slider kit uses a longer bolt in place of the standard bandit bolt. They are a fine pitch bolt and not something that is so called 'standard'
With the other bolt and nut in hand, off I go down to the nut and bolt shop to get replacement. $2.70, 2 nuts and 2 bolts later I was a happy chappy and continued putting it all together
After all that it all went to plan and IMO looks pretty good.
Frame sliders
from the front
from the back(ish)
from the side
Something to keep an eye on if you choose these sliders is the proximity of the block the slider itself attaches to (seen in side pics) to the radiator. It doesn't quite touch but the rubber mounts the radiator is mounted on will allow it to move enough to touch the blocks. The blocks do not touch the rad core on my bike, they touch the side tanks. Only just when you push the rad back, but I'm thinking of shifting the radiator out slightly by using washers to start with and create a little more space. I will need to be careful of how far I move the rad as it may interfere with the suspension at full compression as I've heard that on some bandits the radguard may touch the front guard under full compression.
any q's let me know.

Re: R&G Racing frame sliders
So, where did you move the horn to?
Slider setup look good. The mount clamps are nice and solid.

Re: R&G Racing frame sliders
horn is moved up under the fairing to here
wiring reaches without probs and is an easy (if double jointed) affair to move it there

Re: R&G Racing frame sliders
So do they bolt straight to the frame and nothing else?

Re: R&G Racing frame sliders
no they don't bolt straight to the frame. they use specific brackets and other bits and pieces that use the frame as a mounting point.
have a look at this document. it should explain how they mount up
any questions, ask away and i'll try to answer

Re: R&G Racing frame sliders
Sorry, I meant was are they bolted to the frame only and don't use the engine mounting points?
Because the difference may mean a bent frame after a small off as opposed to a few scratches on an engine cover.

Re: R&G Racing frame sliders
yes they are mounted to the frame only and do not use the front engine mount at all (R&G do have a slider for the bandit that does this tho)
between the two mounting points (left and right side) is a tie bar (as seen in the instruction document) that according to R7G will prevent the frame from bending inwards (ie closing together) in the even of a hard stack.
I recon if the stack was hard enough to cause that kind of damage even with the sliders fitted, the insurance company will rite the bike off.
i got the sliders for those slow speed lie downs for example in car parks and maybe up to about 30-40kph. if they serve the purpose over that speed then it's a bonus in my book.
