1250 fuel weeping onto motor
Has anyone had this problem before?
My 1250 is a daily rider and over the last while I have noticed yellow fuel staining in a very small pool on the R/H side of the motor under the throttle bodies. I have cleaned the area and also around the manifolds but it seems to have continued. I have tightened the clamps on the TB's, not that they were really loose though. the leak is very slight so it isn't obvious as to where its coming from but this seems like to most logical place.
I suspect the fix will be to replace the rubber inlet manifolds but figured I would ask the question here before I order some.

Remove the spacer for the offending clamp and tighten a little more. This happened to my bike really early in the piece

If that don't work, have a look at the hose connector onto the fuel tank.
Suzuki have used a similar one on the VStrom and I don't think it is a good solution compared with a metal hose clamp.
Having said that, it hasn't given me any trouble so "what would I know"?

That's a bit of a trap that spot down there, difficult to clean properly.
Are you sure it is fuel causing it? have you seen it wet with fuel?
I think if it was leaking from the seals above there'd be evidence of some fuel staining on the bottom of the seal.
I've got a similar stain there but I've always put it down to a water stain.....maybe not!

Thanks Reddog, that's worth a shot. New rubber manifolds from Suzuki are $43 each!
madmax - its definitely fuel. colour, smell, and the bike hasn't been wet since I cleaned that spot last weekend and its back.
There is a slight wetness at the throttle body to manifold boot on the R/H side so I'm pretty sure that's what it is. Just not looking forward to doing the job!

Fair enough.
It's not too hard to get you throttle bodies out, while you at it remove the secondaires.

Trust me, it'll be that stupid spacer. Suzuki obviously made it so you don't over tighten it. I just removed it and haven't had the problem since. If you like you could cut it smaller, but mine has been fine for nearly 10 years now

reddog - You sir, are a genius! I tried your suggestion and removed the clamp of the rubber manifold on the outer R/H throttle body, trimmed back the tab on the clamp and refitted it all and its fixed! 200km since doing it and not a drop leaked onto the motor.
total cost for fix - $0 and about 10 minutes of my time!
That's what forums like these are all about
