Another tuning question
G'day fellow bandit owners. Just bought a 08 1250 ,with the only mod being an aftermarket can. Question is, if I mod the air box and fit a uni filter , will I need to fit a tuner of some type ? Would there be any real hp gains in just doing these couple of mods. Sorry if this has been done to death but coudnt find the answer in the search cheers.ps lovin these cool " -6" evenings in cw nsw

Re: Another tuning question
Yes.
If you mod the air box you will get a major (20+ hp gain, depending on what you do exactly and the condition of the engine) and a lot more fuel will be required. Look at the PC-V fuel tables uploaded by Barry, me and others and you will see +10 (which is percent additional fuel) at some points in the rev range. Just the filter maybe not...depends on the individual bike, (but you wont make any significant power gains either).
Do yourself a favour and make sure that the valves clearances are right and fuel filters are clean (tea bag and internal screen in the fuel pressure regulator housing) and sort the suspension first.
You will need a Healtech ATRE to 'lock' the ECU on a single map (generally 5th gear) else you will need to modify all 6 maps (one for each gear) and a supplementary fuel controller to add (and at some points in the RPM range even remove a little fuel). I personally favour the Wollich Racing solution, but PC-V's work (with '08s even if it is not documented).
Have fun.

Re: Another tuning question
The Woolich racing flash is great. Much can be turned off. It makes life easy. Dont need to remove the secondrys as they can be tuned through the flash.
With the tune and airbox mod expect 20+ hp and more torque everywhere, drop the gearing a bit and it will fly.

Re: Another tuning question
Dont forget Healtech make a FI Tuner which plugs straight into the diagnostic connector and is a map based controller. Approx $200 on ebay.
