TUNING??!!??
Hi All,
This is my beast here===========================>>
I am new to road bikes & I have a question please.
The bike came with a Yoshi full system & a Powercommander V.
It runs like a rocket ship but blows blue flames out the back when backing off the accelerator.
Can someone please recommend someone (preferably in the Brisbane area) that can tune it for me at a reasonable cost?
Thanks everyone in advance.

You're probably going to need someone with a dyno.
These are not complicated engines so any dyno shop will get it right for you.
Welcome to the forum too and you can introduce yourself in the appropriate section before some big hairy bastard jumps down your throat.
Re: TUNING??!!??
The guy I bought my Bandit off lives on the Northside and he used to get it serviced by: Northside Motorcycle Workshop. 5/38 Kenworth Place. Brendale 4500. Ph 38896466. He is a very fussy owner so I would imagine that the mechanics he uses are good. Getting a good workshop is a big thing. I would suggest even going to meet the mechanic first before making a booking, and checking out the place. You can learn a lot by just having a look around. Best of luck.

Hey mate.
1. Has the PAIR been blocked yet?
2. Please film the Bandit flame thrower?
Re: TUNING??!!??
Hi again,
OK, so flames may be an overstatement, they are not constant flames, they are rather loud explosions accompanied by a large single blue flame if the engine is under any compression.
I have learned to control it to an extent by keeping the gears high when i am backing off the juice but it would be nice not to have to worry about it.
1. I will try & get it on vid when I can get around to it & post it somewhere for your amusement.
2. Sorry, not even sure what a pair is & whether or not mine need blocking.
3. I have seen DIY maps for the GSF but no later than 09, are the engines identical 09 - 10? Will an 09 map suit my 2010 model?

Don't play with maps until you have blocked PAIR's up.
You may have a good map already and just be pissing money up the wall.
Click here for a couple of links
But a quick fix is to put a 10mm plug in the hose.

Re: TUNING??!!??
Oh. PAIRs puts fresh air in the header pipes to burn off un-burnt fuel

Hi Everyone, thank you for your informative views, from reading up I think it is actually due to the PAIRs that my bike is a flame thrower.
Chips, you had better organise an SEQ night ride soon then because I want to have a go at fixing this ASAP!
Once again, thanks everyone for the info, this has likely saved me a $350.00 DYNO tune.

I'd be willing to bet you don't have a good fit between the collector and the link pipe and its sucking in air there.
The PAIR system itself doesn't invoke a backfire or it would do it with a stock system.
A more fee flowing system such as most after market mufflers and especially header systems allow more air to be sucked in on the over run.
I reused the woven gasket on mine and with a 380mm open muffler it really doesn't pop much.

Hi Chips, you will get to see the flaming Bandit if you come for the ride to Mount Mee this Sunday, it will be during the day but I am told you can still see the flames, just not as spectacular as at night! Hope to see you then..

Re: TUNING??!!??
DMoney, Hammy is talking about Simon at Nothside Motorcycle Workshop (not to be confused with the other Northside Motorcycles at Brendale) he is a brilliant mechanic, no dyno but he doesn't need one. Just be prepared to leave your bike there for at least a week, as he always busy & has a lot of bikes to work on and he has only another young bloke working for him who is also a bloody good mechanic. If you decide to go there you can also check out his wife Donna's business "Gear Factor", next door that sells riding gear and will always do you a great deal.
