Trip Advice, Eastern Creek to Griffin Qld
First topic message reminder :
After the Festival of Speed I'm planning on heading to BrisVegas to stay with my brother and his family for a few days
I've driven the Pacific Hwy enough time to know I don't want to do it on a bike.
I've done the New England a few times by car and in 2012, Brisbane to Muswellbrook by bike, not keen to do it again.
I've got plenty of time, I can take 2 or 3 days (probably more if I need to)
I'm going to head out of Sydney via the Putty Rd to Muswellbrook, after that I need some local knowledge.
Would Bell Trees, Barrington Tops be a good option from there? (looks good on the map )
I seem to recall mention of the Thunderbolts Way before, would that be a option up to Inverell, or am I better off heading back closer to the coast before it crosses the New England?
Where to from there?

RE trip advice eastern creek to griffin
just to give you an alternative after the Nabiac museum you could stay at my place (Forster) but would have to know when as I work shift work, or stay at the Harrington pub (about 40 min from Nabiac on freeway) excellent pub great food right on the water good rooms not to expensive and breakfast included, from there back onto the freeway north past turn off to Kew take the Bago rd turn off to Waughhope and then onto the Oxley highway up to Walcha from there head to Armidale on the thunderbolts way and then to Dorigo another great pub to stay at, from there you could meet up with Kiwisteve the next day, just a suggestion.Chook wrote:I just want to double check the 1st couple of days after I leave Sydney

Thanks for the offer Talon, I've booked into a motel in Taree, after a long day (probably about 5-6hrs riding + museum, + rest and sight seeing stops) I reckon I'll just check inn, maybe duck around to the gym to stretch out any stiffness, quick bite across the road then hit the sack ready for a earlyish start the next day, I'm only doing 470km the day after but I don't usually allow enough tome to stop and soak up the scenery, trying to make sure I do this trip

I seriously enjoyed the magnificent scenery of the Bylong Valley when #tag, Hammy, Barry (BMW) and I did it last year. We did not stop enough to take the necessary photos - something I reckon we are often guilty for. I hope you get time to do what we didn't!

I feel exactly the same about the Bylong from when Kaylah and I did it in 2012

Hi Chook, Day 2, when you get back onto the freeway out of Taree there is a turn off past the exit to kew which will say Bago road, take this turn off as it will get you off the freeway (good road with a few easy twisties) and take you into the centre of Waughope, at the roundabout in town turn left and your on the Oxley highway heading to Walcha.Chook wrote:After the Festival of Speed I'm planning on heading to BrisVegas to stay with my brother and his family for a few days

Thanks Talon, I'm pretty sure that is the way the map is showing already

On the Oxley you can stop at gingers creek for a coffee and snake and a rest from all the bends, then at the top before Walcha Aspley falls is worth a look, hopefully all the rain we are getting here at the moment will be gone, good luck with the ride you should enjoy the route you have picked.

If it too wet I might bail out on some of the extended rides and do it a bit shorter instead, hopefully it'll be ok though
