International (formerly Barry Sheene) Festival Of Speed - 23 to 26 March 2017
First topic message reminder :
Hammy tossed up the idea a while back in the National Meet thread, at the time I was keen to go back to the WSBK's after last years great meet. It looks like that's not going to happen now, anyone else interested in going to this?
Anyone from Tas/Vic/SA/Southern or Western NSW could meet up and ride together for a day or 2 on the way there, I'd get to Hay or Echuca comfortably the 1st night.

Sounds like the weather hasn't been overly kind. Hopefully it comes good from here on in.

Home about lunch time today, 19 days away, 8 days no riding (or just a bit of running around), 5537 km, mostly good weather, some bloody wet, especially early on in Victoria/Southern NSW, as well as travelling with madmax and staying in Sydney with him and Baz, also spent a night with Kiwisteve and caught up with Hammy for a meal and a drink in Brisvegas, great trip, great to be home but can't wait to do it all again.
Gave the bike a rough clean this afternoon to just get the bug and mud off, bloody nail in a less than 50% worn rear tyre

Its' always good to be back home mate. Now you just gotta wait 4 weeks or so to see if any nasty surprises turn up in the mail box
As for the nail as long as it's in the tread area it'll be fine with a mushroom plug, done professionally. I had a roofing screw in mine a couple of years ago and initially plugged it with a liquorice plug. When that failed I got my local dealer to plug it properly. Stayed like that until I wore the tyre out.

Well done Chook. 5500+ klms is a great effort. How was the seat over that distance (sorry, can't remember if you're using an Airhawk or lambswool or other)?

Lambswool, and yeh, went ok. I reckon madmax was feeling it more than me with his Sergeant on the trip up to Sydney, we should've done a seat swap for a bit to campare
My coccyx felt like it had been pounded with a hammer after the 1st few days, that seemed to get better the further I went into the trip, no pain there after the 2nd morning on the ride home
I went to the physio this morning, I booked in as soon as I knew when I'd be home, she was surprised how lose my spine was and that I really don't have any sore spots.
This trip I used my Anytime fitness pass where ever I could, as well as doing my normal routine I stopped mid trip on a number of days, walked on the treadmill for 15 minutes to warm up then did 20-30 minutes of stretching concentrating on my shoulders, back and glutes, also did it in the afternoons after arriving in towns, I'm sure it made a massive difference.
I had always done stretches/exercises while I'm on the bike, I developed a couple more this trip from my normal routine, a few times I started to stiffen up and I did my shoulder/neck/upper back exercises, I even started sitting on the back seat on the Hay Plains and doing 1/2 body pushups, did them a few times yesterday as well

I was going to plug it, GC's won't do it, they will however fit a tube, personally I reckon a properly fitted plug is far safer than a tube
Went to DC's on Marion Rd, he'll do the strip/ refit balance, then sends you over the road to discount city tyres to have the plug fitted, bloke in there is a rider as well.
$45 for DCs,
$15 for the plug fit,
only problem was the rivet stalk had gone in on a sharp angle, it went in 1/2 way between the side wall and centre but managed to hit the side wall and damage it,
$145 later and a new Dunlop fitted and a 1/2 worn tyre left at the store
Re: International (formerly Barry Sheene) Festival Of Speed - 23 to 26 March 2017
Good to hear that you made it there and back in one piece, Chook.
That truly is an impressive ride.
With your next punctured tyre, use a good old bicycle patch.
I have done it four times so far, without a leak.
Remove tyre, rough up inside where nail went through. I use a flap disc on a grinder for a quick job. Patch with vulcanising glue and patch.
No heavy mushroom patch to affect balance. Cheap. Effective.
I guess, if the hole is large, a mushroom would be the go.

Don't worry about us, there were 3 things to be looking at while we were there. Women, bikes, and our phones, sad I know. I recognise the addiction

It can be a dangerous pastime, but no, only snapped her because she seemed like she wanted her photo taken.Chook wrote:madmax wrote:Baz wrote:I was the only one having thoughts of having my way with a pretty rear end, Bryan & Ian were too busy satisfying their techno addiction (they have'nt admitted they have a problem yet)paul wrote:Good pics Baz .................did you warn that poor innocent looking young lady there were a couple of shady looking dudes perving, & having erotic thoughts about having their wicked way with her ? ................

Don't know whats going on with the photos being cropped, the one with the guy doing a wheelie I got the whole bike in the shot. His race had just finished btw.
On glad note I got my car alarm removed.

W#hole bike is showing for me Baz
Good news about your alarm, you're usually a very calm person but we could see that it was more than testing your patience!!
