Re: Southern Highlands GSF1250S 2008

At that age the fork oil will definitely need a change. My bike is one of the first 07s and the oil was a horrible deep brown. Dust seals were on their way out too.

Re: Southern Highlands GSF1250S 2008
My chrome was in pretty good condition. Just had to buff off a very small amount of surface rust
You are right though, Terry Hay should get it sorted. If it hasn't had the suspension sorted make sure the valving and springs get a look at whilst it's apart

Re: Southern Highlands GSF1250S 2008
thanks for the warm welcome once again ...
unfortunately ... upon taking the bike for a test ride before signing papers and heading off home ... the bike had a major 'miss' ... unable to accelerate above 30kmh in first gear ... spluttering badly ... and clearly unable to ride the 100km or so home
so called 'excellent condition' ...
there are some dickheads out there ...
the search continues ....

Re: Southern Highlands GSF1250S 2008
That will be the common Bandit 1250 fuel pump. Cheap and easy fix and plenty of info on here.daveo wrote:thanks for the warm welcome once again ...

Call it a good bargaining angle.
Re: Southern Highlands GSF1250S 2008
thanks for your reply 2wheels ..
could it be fuel pump if there is absolutely no miss whatsoever when revving to 8000rpm in neutral?
but under load, a huge 'miss' is noticeable?

Re: Southern Highlands GSF1250S 2008
thanks for your feedback all ...
yes, it does appear to point to the fuel pump ... I can sort of understand the price drop (by $1k) now ... bet this bloke spoke to Suzuki and they gave him the bad news. however he deny's the problem existed prior to my test ride.
no, its time to move on ... this bloke cant be trusted.

Re: Southern Highlands GSF1250S 2008
Whatever you do, don't spend good $$ on a Suzuki pump. I've had a $100 aftermarket pump in for the last 45,000kms (bought from the US) after my OEM gave out at ~40k mark. DIY installation isn't as bad as you might think - in fact, separating the electrical connectors under the tank is about as hard as it gets. Good hunting.

looking at a 2010 GSF1250SA Bandit later today, 17k on the clock, one owner, all service details available, Givi box, Yoshi R77 exhaust, looks in great nick .. just under $7k .. seems like a reasonable deal ... oh yes, March rego too ...

Re: Southern Highlands GSF1250S 2008
test ride went well, the bike certainly has more than enough power, went up some steep hills, pulls well in all gears. For the km I think the price is right, will pick up bike next week. ... happy days are coming!
