My new ride
So...I thought it was time to get another road bike.
Actually thats not what happened.
I had a customer who wanted to get their late husbands bike running just to sell it. I gave it a check over and quoted the work. She didnt want to spend much money on it and didnt want the hassel of getting a blue slip and everything for it so she offered it to me for a good price.
Me being me, couldnt turn it down. So over the past couple of weeks ive been working on it and got it going.
So now i have a 1997 Triumph Thunderbird 900. Its not a bandit, but it will do.
Immaculate. He owned it since new. Only 20k km on the clock.
Photos to come soon.

Nice Cam. My cousin rides something like that, but I think theirs is later 90s.

Nice work, Cam.
It's always so much sweeter when you are in the right place at the right time to pick up a bargain.
Great bikes, too.
I have a friend who is 65 yo. At sixty she did a lap around Aus on one and it didn't miss a beat.
She sold it only recently, still going strong. .

Can`t say I knew much about them, until I just looked it up.
Nice looking bike.
You`ve done well to pick it up with such low K`s.
In this situation, I`d always have conflict, whether to ride it, or store it.
You know what your doing.

Re: My new ride
Hey fellas.
Its great to be back on the road. The time away must have done me some good and i now have a new appreciation of road riding.
The triumph didnt skip a beat on the 2300km 4 day snowy mountains ride i took her on last weekend.
Problem is over the weekend i didnt grow attached to the bike like i thought i would. I love the look of the bike, but it just didnt excite me riding it like i want a bike to do. So ill keep her for a little longer and probably move on to something else.
I am thinking BMW K1200s or a triumph sprint ST. Does anybody here have any experiences with either? Or something else they might recommend that i may have overlooked.
PS sorry i havnt been around lately. Will be now im on the road again.

Re: My new ride
G`day mate, I have test ridden an ST, and they`re a nice bike.
The power and torque is very similar to a Bandit.
They`ve got a better chassis/frame, so handling is better, and very comfortable sitting position.
I guess you really have to ride one yourself to get a proper opinion, but they`re a good bike.
I`ve had nothing to do with the Beemer, but I`d assume it would have more get up and go all round.

Re: My new ride
The triumph st was a heap of shit compared to the bandit. Didn't like it at all. I actually was going to buy a k1200 prior to the bandit, but the seller pulled out of the deal. They seem to have clutch issues. What are you looking for in a bike? I loved the new xj900 at Philip island. If I was going to buy a new bike atm is be the xj or the mt09 and I am in no way a Yamaha fan. Current Suzukis are just a bit boring

Not to mention you won't find anyone saying the 1050ST had good brakes.reddog wrote:The triumph st was a heap of shit compared to the bandit. Didn't like it at all. The forks are too light looking to me also for a bike designed to carry a load.
