Suzuki VX800
Bike is unregistered. Hasn't been ridden in well over 2 years. Last I remember it needed new plugs and a good tune. Tried to recharge the battery but was not enough to kick it over. Rear tyre is near new. Seat has been taped up due to crack in seam. Over all I loved riding but 4 kids at the school I work in never offered me the freedom. Would like $1500 but could use a quick sale so make me a realistic offer and you could get lucky. Have original manual & a couple of helmets to throw in. Bike housed near Wollongong - Call 0438513212

Re: Suzuki VX800
G'day McDoss,
I am from Figtree.
Can you tell me more about the bike.
km's ?
any leaks ?
tyre / brake pad wear ?
rego papers ?
I've got a budget to stick to at the moment and some more info would be helpful.
Regards,
Truck Bandit!

Suzuki VX800
Thanks Truck Bandit
I live in Berkeley - happy for you to call to arrange an inspection if you want after work hours though. Km's is a bit irrelevant - Clock shows 66K but obviously been clocked. No leaks that I remember although I think I recall a little oily residue around the gear shift. Pretty sure the brakes are good although as I mentioned I haven't ridden her for well over two years. I still have the previous cancelled rego papers which I can produce on inspection. Rego was cancelled 14/9/12. Back tyre was replaced a month or so before I cancelled rego so is new as was the battery albeit flat at the moment - tyres & battery Still looking for the key though (I think my 10 yr old son had a liking for keys at one stage) Macklocks can do me a key for about $60 if i can get the helmet lock off and take it into them so not overly worried about that although I would like to get the seat off in a bid to charge the battery.
Let me know if you are still interested. Happy to talk about your budget.
Neil

Re: Suzuki VX800
Thanks McDoss for info.
I'm just doing some research from the RED BOOK, RMS blue slips and rego amounts etc etc and also saw the ad on Bike Sales and doing a VIN number inspection report. It'll give me a ball park price figure.
Hope you find the keys and wouldn't mind taking a look at it's condition sometime.
The manual would be handy but I wouldn't need any helmets or the clothing as I still have all my old stuff.
Available over the weekend sometime?

Reduced price to $1500 negotiable
Have just had two keys made up. Tried to recharge battery but couldn't achieve enough power to kick it over. Was enough to verify electrical system in good shape.

Re: Suzuki VX800
I still have 4 of them and a lot of bits and pieces 2 vx's about half sorted out if you know anyone looking for a project ? I sometimes wonder if they will ever become collectable in the future ? they should because they are a lot better bike than say a old Honda 750 and other crap we got fed in the 70's and they ask shitloads for them

Re: Suzuki VX800
Did you ever come across one with a genuine Suzuki option bikini fairing?
This was mine that I bought "near new" as a previously unregistered demo (600km) in Dec 1990, it was 17 1/2 years old here
and 21 years old here , not long before I sold her to make way for the Bandit

Re: Suzuki VX800
Very nice vx - I had a black one as well did yours have the inner LH exhaust pipe rattle that went away when hot ? they weren't the best handler when pushed but just a good user friendly bike to live with .
I have had a 1250 for 7 years now and it's a great bike for the longer runs i also bought a 1400 z model but the bandit has the edge on it I think as a all round bike just a shame as the 1250 is looked on as a worthless bike but then that helps you to keep it longer and that's not such a bad thing I think ?

Re: Suzuki VX800
The 1st trip to Melbourne convinced me I needed something to break the wind, I looked at after market fairings but eneded up talking Suzuki South down to $300 for the genuine one that retailed @ $500 way back in 1991
This was my 1st Melbourne trip, it was 10 months old here

Re: Suzuki VX800
I can't remember the brand, there was a local Adelaide bloke that used to make them.bikemad wrote:What sort of mufflers are they on the VX ? they don't look like the factory ones
Suzuki South had them fitted when a mechanic tipped it on it's side in the workshop before it was ever ridden and damaged the stock one, I got a substantial discount on retail for a bike that had aftermarket cans, 600km but still came with full warranty because it hadn't been rego'd yet

Would it have been Redline Exhaust ?Chook wrote:I can't remember the brand, there was a local Adelaide bloke that used to make them.bikemad wrote:What sort of mufflers are they on the VX ? they don't look like the factory ones

Maybe, I honestly can't remember. There was no branding on the pipes, they sounded and breathed a shit load better than the std onespaul wrote:Would it have been Redline Exhaust ?Chook wrote:I can't remember the brand, there was a local Adelaide bloke that used to make them.bikemad wrote:What sort of mufflers are they on the VX ? they don't look like the factory ones
