My Very First Bike
First topic message reminder :
I notice a couple of members saying that they have owned this bike and that. Got me reminiscing about my very first Bike.
I grew up on an orchard so bikes were always about. But you want your own. So I saved up till I had half the amount. Dad promised to go halves. I used to visit the local MC shop and drool over the new Honda trail bikes. I had my heart set on a shinny red SL 100. I think ( now this was 40 years ago ) it was around the $600 mark. Maybe less. A lot back then for a 15 year old. The day arrived and dad took me down to the shop. I showed him the SL and said that that was the one I wanted. Dad went Hmmmm. Looked around the tiny showroom and said, what about that one. A silver XL 125. I had looked at it on previous visits but was a little intimidated by it. 125CC. Wow.
Our busted up farm bike was a clapped out Yammy 90. Yellow. Plus an old 500 BSA that sat out in the weather for years. Dad asked the owner of the shop what the difference was and I think it was about another $150. Dad said if I wanted it then he would pay the difference. I took it for a ride and when I got back I still remember being so excited that this brand new bike would soon be mine. At that stage I had my car license, but no Bike. Rode about for a year before I got the Bike added to me old paper book license. Which I still have in a drawer some where. So that's my first ever bike. What's yours ? And remember. Just the very first one. Not a big long list of every bike you ever owned. Cheers.

It was a Kawasaki G2, & had an awesome 90cc "power" plant
Am I the only one that had a Kawasaki as a first bike?
You beat me by 1 Steve, my 2nd was a Kawasaki (It was the 1st I bought with my own hard earned $$$)

CB 250 72 model with miles on the clock. Think that it had over 60k miles on it back on my L"s. The top speed..70mph. But it was mine. No one gave it to me. The first mod was to turn the handle bar upside down and remove the crash bars that had been fitted.

My first bike
Just reading this thread. Brings back many memories. Like Ewok my first bike that belonged to me was a Yamaha 125E that I tried to turn into a motocross bike with reasonable success. I learned to ride on my sisters Yamaha 50 step thru before that though from about age 12. After the 125E I bought a real motocross bike, a Suzuki RM125. My first road bike though was this RD350 that I bought while my parents were overseas. Popped great monos!

Re: My Very First Bike
My brother destroyed mine. Broke the countershaft off of it. I can't remember ever doing an oil change it changing ties on it to be honest. As long as it had fuel in it I would ride it all weekend. It was a great little machine. Gonna haven't changed that motor at all. It is still in all the kids fun bikes. My sons xr50 has the smaller version of it. They are nearly unbreakable as long as you change the oil

Re: My Very First Bike
This was mine. Honda C110
50 cc, 5 bhp, 4 speed manual Called a "Super 50" $326 in 1966. Rode it until I finally lost interest (motorcycling was something you could only do in the Summer) , My brother finished it off (collapsed rear wheel bearing - the motor just wouldn't give up) It got given to a cousin. They are a bit collectable now.
This is what I got my licence on. Mine had no mirrors, no turn indicators (though they are fitted to that one), what helmet?
2nd bike? Honda K2 750. By then, I'd ridden many others (Loved the Triumph Bonneville, hated the 2 strokes)
