Hopefully a new Qld owner of a Bandit
Hi all!
Not much more to add to the title. I'm from Brisbane and am looking around to buy a Suzuki.
I'm just starting my searching and came across this forum, so if anyone has some good input about buying a Bandit I'm all ears.
Now to start reading!

Welcome. You've come to the right place.
I know of an excellent 07/08 coming up very soon. Deceased estate (not on the bike)

Welcome to the forum, Chett.
A few bikes available in the for sale thread.
Here's one I prepared earlier.

Thanks Bosco, I'll keep it in mind although I'm not looking for a full fairing.
Quick question to you all, I've seen a few bikes at around the 40,000-50,000kms. Is there a major service item or anything else that happens around this distance?

Hello n welcome.
If you go by the book, valve clearance should be checked every 24k. I don't remember anyone on the forum actually replacing shims. I've got over 65k on my bandit and haven't had the valves checked yet! These engines will run forever. My rh fork seal needs replacing, and I might lash out for its first throttle body balance. It's just consumables at that distance ie. chain n sprockets, fuel pump fix (see Gus post).
The Bandit has been the cheapest most reliable commuter I've owned. Easy to work on, and looks ok.
Happy hunting......

At my 24k service last year the dealer didn't do valve clearances. The head mechanic is generally pretty good with these sorts of things so I guess he doesn't feel its needed that early either

Re: Hopefully a new Qld owner of a Bandit
Waste of time checking at 24k, I did mine as there wasn't too many owners who had done it yet. There is enough evidence in this forums and others that the water cooled Bandit can easily get close to 100k before it really needs doing.
As others have stated the Bandit is pretty bullet proof, unless an oil change has been missed you should have a pretty good bike. Just look at normal wear ad tear items and take the bike for a test ride to make sure it feels right.
