What's been keeping me off the bike the last few months
From this humble Pine tree (or one just like it)
I turned it into this
then this,
then,
to finally this
Now that its done I can finally get back to riding

Hmmn,
Bar can only seat 4, accommodation is pretty limited, and no license so it would have to be BYO

Re: What's been keeping me off the bike the last few months
Great work!!
It must have been the year for reno's keeping us of the bikes, I took 3 months long service to turn our old galley kitchen into a office and the adjoining dining room into a full sized kitchen.
2 corner chimneys removed, 1 old timber window replace with a aluminium one, brick walls built where chimneys were and completely rebuilt 90 year old walls with gal lintels above 2 doorways and the window, the original kitchen doorway bricked up and a new one cut into the passage wall, stripped paint from the architraves, sanded floors, repaired ceilings and patched where the chimneys were, built new floor the same as original where the chimney slab was
We still have a bit of finishing off to do, the splash back tiling would have been done if it wasn't for a $4500 transmission bill for the family car

Looks good Chook and a lot of work.
I bet the wife loves the new kitchen.
It took me 5 months to do the bar but then I was doing it on my days off

Haha, A few people have said that I'm in the wrong job. Trouble is it takes too long for me to make a living out of it

I can relate to that.madmax wrote:paul wrote:So that would be 2 members I have now to call on for home renovations

I initially took 7 weeks long service leave, after that I went back for 3 weeks (still working before work and at night) and then took another 6 to get it ready for the cupboards to go in.
It wasn't too bad when we started, I managed to keep the kitchen partially functioning for 2 weeks then it was outside small fan heated portable oven and the BBQ on the back veranda but as winter set in so did the lack of understanding from the Mrs, even with the veranda tarped up like a extra room it was still bloody cold out there and I kept getting the "we should have paid someone else" I just had to keep reminding her if we'd paid someone else we would have run out of money with 2 1/2 finished rooms and no cupboards or appliances.

I think most women forget the cost of reno type work. As stated once you get a builder/carpenter etc involved the cost of the materials is nothing in the grand scheme of the total cost to complete the job.

Im glad you said 'most women', cause ive done a new kitchen and two bathrooms, and I know how friggin hard it is to get anything done in a reasonable timeframe, so I paid tradies, and organised the lot.
