Presently own GV650 Hyosung Aquila. Looking at buying a bandit and am hoping to find out why the current bikes being offered for sale were manufactured in 2012? Look forward to all reply's.

Welcome to the forum mud ..................I believe Suzuki haven't brought any more stock into Aust similar to what they did in America with the gsx sports bikes when there was an over abundance of them .Model updates were not major ones in this model run , so a 2012 model should be fine & I doubt any different .................and  you should be able to get a good deal as well   LOL .
Where do you live mud ?
Ok so just read 2WA's other post & apparently I may be wrong  lol!

I live in the Adelaide area and purchased the GV650 almost 9 years ago. While it's been a great bike to get me back into the saddle, and can recommend the bike for those who want to renew the passion to ride, It's time for me to move on. I have recently spent time riding the Yamaha 600 and 800 and Honda CB400 and CB1300. I took a Bandit for a test ride last week and will be test riding a Yamaha MT-09 and Aprilia Shiver with the wife tomorrow. I also want to get her onto the Bandit as these bikes all fall within the bang for buck range that I'm looking at. I have to say the Bandit tick's all of my boxes:-)

Hello and welcome - I'm new here as well!

In the USA, the newest GSX1250FA's being offered at dealers are 2011 and a few 2012's.  Just don't sell that well, I'd guess.  No 2013 or later were brought into the country.

Welcome to the forum, Mud.
It sounds like you are looking at new bikes.
Don't pass up the used bike market with these girls. They are a tough bike and a great deal can be had on well sorted used examples.
Buy one for the missus and one for yourself and still have change left over from the price of a new one.
I picked up a 2010 1250fa with full Givi setup and sorted suspension for $5500 (for wifey) & a 2004 1200 with a worked motor and exhaust system for $3500 (for me). Both had rego. Bargain.
You'll get a better price for your Aquilla if you sell privately rather than trade in, too.

Welcome to the forum Mud

I see Suzuki Australia have removed the GSF1250 from their website but still list the GSF1250SA and the GSX1250FA. You would assume then that once current stocks run out they will replenish those two. In the short term anyway.
As for the Naked Bandit maybe it didn't sell well enough???

As Bosco said look around the secondhand market, and keep your eye on this forum

Here's a good looking example. No bids so far. Worth getting in touch and striking a deal.
Fly up and ride home. Very Happy

Welcome mud, I just brought a 11/12 build dated bandit 1250s brand spankers, so even tho on my rego etc it's dated as a 2013. I'm not overly fussed, wanted a bandit and happy with the price I got her for like the other lads have said they stopped building them as at end 2012, so if your keen you should be able to get a good deal, Very Happy

Hi Ghostbandit, Suzuki release their new models for the upcoming year in the last couple of months of the previous year. So any bike with the 11th month stamped on the compliance plate will be the following years model. Its always been like this as far as I know. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.Smile But that is the last model made.

If the build plate or sticker say it's a 2012 (or compliance plate if there is no build date) it is a 2012. I'd say the dealer put 2013 on the application for rego and new vehicles generally aren't checked by anyone else.
If you transferred the rego to SA it would get a ID inspection and any details not correctly recorded or missing from the data base would be corrected, in your case it would be corrected to a 11/12 build date

(Some states record compliance date, some record build date, compliance date becomes a issue with low volume 2nd hand vehicles, often they are recorded in VIC as up to 10 years newer than they really are)

It's like all bike places from what I've seen, perfect example right now is all the 2015 model bikes have just been released, even tho they will be build dated sometime this yr.

Why they decided to call it a gsx is beyond me. Shocked

I think Suzuki wanted to distinguish it from the Bandit name because of the full fairing.

Yes it did. Maybe that was old marketing and this was seen as a new direction.

I am only guessing here.

I find it interesting that the guy who wrote that review made the comment that Suzuki was avoiding the 'B' word with the release of the GSX

Was the GT an official Suzuki release or a dealer spec order?

No idea on that one, I know my mates toured NZ on the bandit GT a number of years ago, it was a hire bike aswel.

An article I pulled up not to sure how old it is tho

Remember too that the 650 is also a GSX and the 1250 is basically the same except for a larger engine and pumped out fairings to accommodate it.
