My secondary butterfly experiance
after reading all the post here decided I would do it, I went and bought the correct pozi drive bit set.
Got the throttle body off without any dramas and left the throttle cable hooked up just hung the throttle body off the side off the bike like I read here
First drama the screwdriver size wasn't correct it was a #0 phillips, second drama couldn't heat up the locktite enough with a soldering gun using a Infrared thermometer I could only get 110deg C
so I used my 1600w heat gun which took it to 260deg in about 10secs. Using the phillips head they came out easily then, no damaged heads ect.
Got it all back together fired up straight away and took it for a ride. I also pulled the air snorkel off.
There is no doubt the improvement is significant, smoother throttle control more mid range and a stronger top end.
I thought she ran smooth before but its much better now, dragstrip results will tell the true improvement
As others have said take them out, nothing to fear except more power!

yes the call of the Dark Side is strong
that torch would be ideal for the job, this should be a mandatory mod for all 1250 Suzuki's.... NO EXCUSES WILL BE TOLERATED!

Re: My secondary butterfly experiance
Hi V17R
I tried to do this yesterday but could not get the throttle body outta the bike. Got the airbox side pulled away ok but couldn't get the manifold side of the throttle bodies to budge. Ran out of time stuff around anymore as the wife was due home and i'm supposed to be taking it easy (just got out of hospital day before haha) so put the bike back together and now trying to figure out where the hell I went wrong? Anyway, next chance I get is Thursday so I've got a couple of days to dust my self esteem off and have another red hot go......after some kind and helpful advice from the forum.
Cheers,
Spike47

There is a video on her somewhere on how to do it, check that first.
I recall it being pretty simple. take off the tank, undo the airbox clamps and bolts, loosen the manifold side clamps. I think from memory there was some vac hoses to disconnect as well.
To swing the throttle bodies out to the right side, first move the airbox rearward as far as possible, then move the throttle bodies backwards out off their front clamps. Once clear you should be able to manoeuvre them out to the right side.
Someone else might like to add to this if I forgotten anything
No need to disconnect the throttle cables
I scratched the side of my airbox with the throttle bodies hanging on the outside make sure you put a rag there to protect it

Re: My secondary butterfly experiance
Hi Madamax,
I was wondering about those throttle cables because mine don't seem to have any slack whatsoever so there must be something I may need to cut/free up to get more slack to playwith once I pull the TB out the right side. I reckon once I get the TB free i'll be right (fingers crossed). I've read heaps on here about doing it but dropped the ball at some point.
With the airbox, I pulled it back as far as it would go and just had enough room to get the TB off it so maybe I need to create more room in this area somehow - maybe remove battery box??
Anyway, thanks for the info mate and I'll give it another go Thursday.
Cheers,

Re: My secondary butterfly experiance
Trick is to use cable ties (?, maybe I used occie straps, it was a while ago) to tie the airbox back so that it is under tension. This creates the poofteenth of additional room you need to slip them out. I'm pretty sure Reardo (?) covered it in his original write up.

I didn't need to do that, just move the airbox that's all you should need to do.
Check around to make sure you aren't being restricted by any cables I think from memory there is a large plug you need to disconnect
Have a look at this thread from Gus

Now that you mention it I think I used Occy straps as well

Re: My secondary butterfly experiance
+1 on the occy straps, plus don't forget the large round fuel injector loom connector (you can see the disconnected end on the right of the throttle bodies next to the radiator):
These last two shots is putting them back (I used a pair of these large vice grips to make sure they were seated good in the boots). You can see how far back the air box is, this gives just enough room to bring the throttle bodies to the rear then out the right side:
Having two left thumbs, I still managed to do this without any hassle, just look what's in the way, it's pretty self explainatory, good luck and don't get caught by the missus

No heat gun but I got me one of those butane micro torches if that will suffice? Hey man, it would be awesome if you could come over anytime between say 9am - noonish? up to you but I can be a bit more flexible but all work must be wrapped up in time for me to pick up the little ones from daycare in the arvo. What do ya reckon?

Re: My secondary butterfly experiance
I promised pics so here they are. Firstly, the obligatory before shot, with the TB hangin' out the right hand side and resting on a towel - a good start.
Made all the more easier to remove courtesy of the occy strap masterstroke on the airbox.....
Anyway, all was going swimmingly through the use of the application of heat by way of butane micro torch and a #0 phillip head I had lying around until this.....
Yes, two screws would not budge and I had rounded the heads off. That's cool, I'll just drill them out and that's what I did.
SUCCESS!
Put everything back together and fired her up no dramas. Can't take her out for a ride just yet as I have to wait for my surgery stuff to heal a bit better, but can't wait.
Oh, and by the way I also did a TPS adjustment just for the hell of it.
Cheers,
