Not sure about the new 2010 Bandit 1250!
First topic message reminder :
Hi fellow members.
I currently own a 2001 Yamaha FZ1 & was looking for a new bike replacement.
The 1250 Bandit appeals very much due to its good looks, bullet proof motor and ability to commute as well as tour.
The 2008 & 2009 models were excellent due to their half fairing style, providing rider protection whilst leaving that beautiful motor exposed for all to see.
For me a motorcycle is as much about the beauty of the motor as well as the ride.
That's why I was rather disappointed with the 2010 offerings.
You either get a fully faired version which completely covers the motor, or the naked, with a black only mill and leaving you exposed to the weather on long trips.
Otherwise these machines are ideal for my requirements.
Great value, bullet proof engineering, capable performance & reliability, & outstanding ride.
Does anyone own a 2010 Bandit 1250 who can offer a critique?
cheers.
Rocky

GSX owners
I have been looking at this bike and today I got to sit on one. Now the specs state that the seat height is 805 which is the highest setting on my 09 Bandit S, I always have mine set on the lowest setting. The GSX I sat on today was the same height as my bike.
I wonder if the GSX owners can tell me how effective is the fairing ??

Gotta agree with that jaba. I bought a new FJR in 2003 did 86000ks on it and traded for an 08 FJR had it 8 months and was written off after hitting a patch of diesel. Didnt want to buy a 3rd FJR but sure liked them. Ended up getting my current ride an 07 1250S with full Givi luggage for $7900. I have spent around $2k on xtras for it and to compare it to a $25k FJR, there aint much different. The Bandit is nicer to throw around and a lot torquery than the FJR. About the only thing i miss in winter is the full fairings and the heated grips, but not having them in summer will be a bonus. Long live the Bandit.!!

OOH and i do miss the shaft drive, the GSX1250fa with a shaft drive would be just great, remember the old 750 and 850 GS Shafties great bikes. Long live the Bandit.!!

The "are they nimble" question is relative. I had a Boulevard prior to the Bandit and I think this thing is a dirt bike around town compared to it.

I picked up a demo 2010 GSF1250S with ABS for around $1300 off RRP.
It is the grey/charcoal colour with the black motor and frame which I like very much.
It had only done 260KM so near as damn it, a brand new bike.
Now that the year is coming to a close, you may want to look around for a demo and get a good deal.
I tried getting a demo ride on the new GSX1250FA but nobody in Perth had one to ride.
A key issue for me is heat coming off the motor.
It was reasonably warm on the weekend just gone but I had no issues with heat at all over 100KM of city riding.
That was a key point for me to go with the S version.
I guess I won't know if the FA would be any better.
Great bike to ride, great bike to look at, and a great price to pay.
Can't ask any more than that.

Gladius dash with gear counter...
Gladius? It's the K5 Gixxer 1000 dash.
The headlight is from the same model.
