First topic message reminder :

Which one is the better project bike as a stable partner for the Bandit?

Both are currently for sale on Bikepoint. I'm inclined to go for the XS850 but it is over Adelaide way so there are logistic issues. It would look good with the original pipes restored and the tank and sidecover labels back on.

I've got a task for Jim - next time I have it down in the valley (where it will be garaged), I'll arrange to meet with you and we'll do a few runs so you can video it and capture some soundtrack - I'm impressed with that vimeo you did for the Bermi ride so we may as well add some TRX soundtrack to this thread.

It's also a silver engine which means it was an Australian market import. The black engined bikes are 'grey' imports. From memory, the suspension on the Oz bikes was also uprated.

Yeah, I'm finding out a few things now. It also seems the grey imports have white frames and came standard with Brembo brakes. But as you say, this is not one of those.

Seems no-one wants the XS as it is still for sale. One of the things that put me off was when I did a search for a new set of headers and mufflers - plenty of junk and it looked like it could be a costly issue in a restoration.

Must be my lucky day - the seller's son plays footy in a regional comp and has games in Canberra crack of dawn tomorrow, and has kindly suggested he's able to deliver the TRX to my doorstep tonight on the trailer. bouncebouncebounce It'll be here about 7.30pm so unless I put it in the loungeroom, I might miss some of the footy.

There will be some photos tomorrow (after I clean the drool off!). cheers

I can feel the excitement building and I think the lounge room is a perfect place to start your relationship.

Went for a 50km spin on her this morning. Definitely different to the Bandit! The twin rumble is nice. It is quite light so it is easy to manouvre. I thought it felt too highly geared (not quite running in the sweet spot at 100 in 5th or 80 in 4th) - not sure if it has been changed but I'll up the back sprocket by a couple of teeth.

Wow that looks like a really nice one. They are generally a bike that gets used a lot and most have ended up pretty beaten up.
