Starter Clunk - Again
Starting Black Betty at the gym this arvo I had an "oh no" moment when I heard the familiar clunk/crack as the starter spins.
Once home it did it again in the garage too
What would be the odds of it happening twice to the same person?????????
Fark me

Re: Starter Clunk - Again
Jeez - I hope it's not - what else might it be or was the sound pretty much exactly the same?

Check the sprocket that joins the started to the sprag clutch .
Search "push starter ,crash bang "
Then again mine made a noise when it ran ,but worth checking anyway.

Im pretty sure its the exact same noise it made last time 6 months before shitting itself.
If it keeps doing it its farked. There is no intervention that will fix it or stopping the magnets from splitting.
Wish Honda made a similar bike!

Nope the bike is used almost daily 40+ km each way.gus wrote:Do you use a battery tender ?
Battery is fine Gus.
Re: Starter Clunk - Again
I havent looked at the starter on the Bandit, but might be worth taking it out (or using the old one??) and talking to an auto elec who deal with custom starters, or even a machine shop (adaptor or mount modification). Maybe there's a chance of modifying a Busa, or Gixer starter to suit?
Thats shitty luck to have this problem happen to you - twice

Well, a Blade is similar in that it has two wheels. No?

looks seem to change when presented in different colour schemes

Re: Starter Clunk - Again
Its the right color but there is something in the proportions that isn't right. It doesn't look as good as a Bandit IMHO

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you mate.
PS: I did lose two clutch master cyclinders within 5 years on a brand new Kia Sorento a few years back - but I put that down to cheap Korean manufacturing.

Re: Starter Clunk - Again
I thought this was interesting - seems like this bloke had a very similar problem with an SV1000.

It's a potentially cheap SV if someone was willing to take the risk.

Re: Starter Clunk - Again
That does sound like the early signs of starter failure.
I would have had bits in mine if I looked early enough.
