Early Risers.
OK. I'm sure we have a varied cross section of workers/retiress here, so who gets up at what time of the day ?
Jan gets up at 3:15 am, mon - fri. to get herself ready for the 4:33am water taxi trip to the mainland. To get to work at just after 5am. I'm not so unlucky. I can sorta get up much later if I wanted to, but don't. I usually get up around 4:30ish. My work hours vary but I am still an arly riser. Did the 4.33am stint for quite a few years. Now I work on the Island. He he.

I normally find that I am an early riser and this prompts me to go have a wee. We are talking about that early rise?

Re: Early Risers.
probably sounds wrong, but not only do I get up at 4.10am for work days,i also do it for pleasure.
Personally I feel from an hour before sunrise till about 8.30am is the best part of the day, paticularly half an hour just before sunrise.
Until injuries started to rule my life, always used to go mountain hiking, and watch sunrise, something crisp and clean about it,and there used to be a pair of Peregrine Falcons that nested up there, and to watch them in action was awesome!!

Gee...you guys dairy farmers???
The early morning can be neat, watching nature awaken. But I would rather take a video and watch later.

As soon as it's sunrise at the moment - this period of leave isn't about R&R, it's all about getting things done. But I do enjoy an ale at the end of a long leave day (not as drunk as this emoticon might suggest!).

Re: Early Risers.
I have had the dubvious pleasure of seeing all hours of the day and night due to my job. I work rotating shift work, and the roster is random with absolutley no set rosters, so I go to work at a different time every day. The upside is I am generally out in the countryside, so sometimes the sunrise and sunsets are even better, and when there is no moon out at night it can be so dark!

I think mornings would be more popular if they started later in the day

Re: Early Risers.
Hmmm, well.... some days, I dont get to see the sunrise at all, and those are the days when I ride to get a coffee and do Soduku. The days when I DO see the sun rise, are the days when I miss the coffee to take someone somewhere. And then i get cranky, cause the cooler mornings are nicer for riding to the coffee shop.....
Then there are the nice evenings to see the sun set, if I could just get away from this stupid township, with the overhead powerlines, so I can get some photos.
(Quite a few years ago, I had to rise at 5am, to job a 3km cross country course, with around 200 other idiots, shower and be in the mess hall by 6am. The very first morning when I didn't have to do this, I had a two hour sleep in, and was told I am a lazyass. I have avoided having to get up at 5am ever since!)

Re: Early Risers.
Since I've been 'semi' retired I generally wake and rise around 7 - 7.30am, after 35 years of doing shift work with 12 hour night shifts it's bliss! I had to work all night last Friday on a casual job I have and I'm still catching up on the sleep I lost! (Don't know how I managed for 35 years!)

Re: Early Risers.
On work days, usually about 6am. weekends it is usually more like 5am as I do really enjoy the early morning ( and the only time I get to myself) and often go kayaking at dawn - even in winter here in Canberra.
At the moment we have a new baby girl so I can be awake most of the night and the days are blending into one another.

Mate it could be that too. I have been awake since about 2am this morning and throw in a bottle and a half of red tonight.
