Old Pacific Highway
Here's some footage taken yesterday from Pie in the Sky heading north.
Ahead of me is PotatoMasher & Baz.
It had been almost 12 months since I had been up the Old Road, & if I hadn't had such a nice clean run south back from Mt White I wouldn't bother heading back up there for a while. I'm the last one to talk about overtaking on double white lines, having been busted last year, but what I saw yesterday makes me wonder why riders are up in arms about the increased police presence around the Old Road. There are riders up there giving the rest of us a bad name, & quite frankly I expected to have footage of PM being taken out yesterday by a Hyabusa that looked like he was going to pull a stoppie to avoid hitting the back of the Bandit. (the video doesn't really show how close it really was - it's around the 2:30 mark). In this case 2 bikes pulled in front of me, the second one after the lines had gone solid.

Nice video (it even played nicely on my crap PC - most don't). I see what you mean about idiots and overtaking - there are multiple examples. No wonder the cops get cranky.

This is why I try to avoid the roads that are popular with Sydney riders, nothing against Sydney riders in general, it's just that the high numbers mean that the small percentage of idiots adds up to a significant number.
Which makes me feel a bit vulnerable and makes the economics of 'high' enforcement more attractive.
Not to mention the ridiculously low speed limits.
Good footage BTW.

I only like that road now midweek when no-one else is there.
I think channel nine news is going to air some footage tonight of some hoons speeding like there's no tomorrow on that road, no doubt they will label all motorcyclists as criminals as a result and the road will be closed to all but residents and pushbikers next.

Nice Video mate. As for the wankers, that's why I always 300mm from the white line. If they gotta pass, they gotta go out wide. If they're dumb enough to pass on double lines they've gotta except what's coming.
I had a weird experience on my way to work yesterday. A long line of cars was coming toward me and round about fifth was a highway patrol. I could see his lights flashing from a long way off. Looked liked he was in a real hurry. As I passed him, I looked in the mirror to see a big cloud of dust followed by tyre smoke and within seconds he was behind me flashing his headlights. I pulled up and said g'day. He asked for my licence and put me on the bag, then went to his car. A few minutes later he handed the licence back and said "Have a nice day"

Enjoyed watching the video, amazing amount of bikes on that road, but yeah, its a worry that so many are overtaking in bad places.
How have you mounted the camera behind the screen?

i have a RAM mount system for my GPS, but as I don't need the GPS 99% of the time, the ball mounts are great for the gopro.
oh, i also have a bloody big touring screen too!
i'll take a photo next time & put it up.

. . . "
Interesting cause thats why I always try and ride about a metre off the left shoulder, in the off chance that another rider coming the other way crosses over into my side of the road, gives us both a better chance of survival.
