Model numbers, K6, K7 etc
Sorry all but I have a dumb question.
Where is the model number listed? I have a 2010 1250S but that's all I know. Is it on the comnpliance plate (which I couldn't find when I had a quick look last night)

I'm not sure if its on the plate, but If I recall correctly yours would be a K10. K is for the decade 2000-2010 and and the number after is the year it was made in that decade.
The next decade is L which makes my GSX a L11.

Hi M - not sure on the 2010 but on my K7 the VIN Number is on the right side of the steering head pipe - hopefully your's is the same. It is a long number and you'll need a copy of the manual to interpret the year and model:
There is also an ID plate on the right rear frame near the passenger footpeg bolts, No 12 on the diagram below:

Thanks Gents, good info.
I had a bit of a look but couldn't find the plate in the normal spots, I'll try harder tonight!
Pretty sure the owner's manual didn't list the location of the label either and I am yet to find a Workshop Manual. Can find plenty of 07 manuals online but 2010 are rare. Only had the bike a week so it's early days yet.
Cheers.

I have seen references to an L0 so I think the K series may have run from 2000 - 2009 and then the L series started again at 0 (for 2010 - assume the 2011 model is designated either L01 or L11). I might be wrong though!

2010 is L0, 2011 L1 etc.
Models changed little other than colour, although there's some with different rear bodywork (taillight differs.)
In NZ at least, you can buy a 2012 L0 model, depending on stocks, so the year of purchase and model year can differ a lot
