Chain Cleaner.
Does anyone have a "chain cleaner" that they find works really well. I have seen some like this: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/KettenMax-Classic-Chain-Cleaner-/110889303887?pt=AU_Motorcycle_Parts_Accessories&hash=item19d1847f4f and wondered if they do a good job.

Along with an ice cream container and old toothbrush. Just finished it now, and it comes up ok I guess.

I use kero & a short bristle paint brush ( holds more kero than a tooth brush ) & works pretty well

Re: Chain Cleaner.
Dont believe it ,dont bath the chain, just wipe it with a rag .Then lube .Ive heard that too, its a mith .Dont use degreaser or pressure wash .
My chain has 40,000 kls on it so kero hasnt hurt it at all.

Re: Chain Cleaner.
I didn't realize that my black chain was a nice shiney gold chain (not a reference to dodgy car dealers ) till I got out the old toothbrush & kero. I've lubed the chain after the cleaning, & now it should need a wipe with a rag that has chain oil on it on a regular basis to keep it looking good.
I've heard quite a few people say that an o ring chain shouldn't need to be lubed! Not too sure about that tho.

Re: Chain Cleaner.
I recommend the Kettenmax cleaner. Have had mine for around 5+ years and it works well for the road and dirt bike. Sinc e fitting the scottoiler to the Bandit it seldom needs a clean, just needs a wipe with a clean rag.

x2. it's the only way, Kero wont hurt O, X or Z rings, a lot of others will, if it evaporates quickly it's probably no good for the seals
Re: Chain Cleaner.
Another vote for Kero, a toothbrush and a rag.

Not likely at this time of year Paul. I rode to work the other morning and the apparent temp (including windchill etc) when I left was -8.6c.

Temperatures like that are enough to make the brass monkeys duck for cover
( Actually brass monkeys were used to stack cannon balls on ships in earlier times for some useless information )

+1 here. Kero, toothbrush, rag and nitrile gloves. Kero is an oily solvent so it won't damage the O-rings. Don't use degreaser, petrol or thinners.

You Rock Buelllord,
There is theory and then there is that...250km/h. Has it warmed up over there yet? Riding to work in jumper, jacket and shorts at the moment here in Proserpine Nth Qld. My sister-in-law just left Perth two weeks back and said it was down to 1degree. That's handlebar warmer weather!
