Until they give you the bill.

Bugger me, I just about shat mah dacks when they handed over the bill for my new glasses $1746.

Now I know I'm as blind as a bat at close and medium range but was not expecting to own shares in the Hubble Telescope. Did not want to go back to Spec Savers (a budget eye wear firm) as it took them five cracks to get my last script right and even then my sight was a little dodgy.

O well it's done now lol pirat

I haven't had any hassles with Spec Savers last three two times I've been there and I have different strengths for each eye. Think I paid $200 odd for two sets last time - about the only thing you get a decent payout through the Health Insurance.

I was very short sighted and used OPSM services for a long time. Then 2 years ago they presented me with a bill for $750 fo multifocal lenses and they stuffed up my prescription 4 times. After they finaly got it right I thanked them for helping me make the decision to never buy an expensive pair of their overpriced specs again. I then went and got my eyes lasered, and I couldn't be happier. The only drawback is that because I'm an old fart over 40 yrs old, the lenses in my eyes have hardened and don't adjust for near and far vision like they did when I was young, so even with the laser adjustment of the cornea I have to use reading specs, which I buy for $5 dollars for 2 pairs. My peripheral vision is miles better, and my general vision is a million times better than when I was using multifocal specs. Cost of the laser was about $6,000 and I recon it was worth it. New and safer techniques a being developed all the time in optical surgery, and I recon that it won't be too far into the future that spectacles won't be wothwhile any more, especially on a cost vs result basis.

Matthews Sangster and Mathews

I looked (cuse the pun) at Lazar surgery but was not a good candidate. My right eye they could do ($4500) my left eye is buggered though but they did say they could put a Kamra inlay in (http://kamrainlay.com/) which might work and only charge $12,995, After 30 seconds they received my reply Hell no.

Interesting how the laser surgery works, they carve furrows out of your lense and it heals almost immediately with the two side coming together, hence changing the lense to correct the shape and getting the focal point to the back of your eyeball again.

The most I've paid for glasses was $650 and that was for Addidas sunglasses with 'clip in' prescription lens.

Edit: Yours haven't got DUCATI, HARLEY DAVIDSON, APRILIA or something similar on the them do they?.

I get my glasses online from an outfit called Zenni. Got sick of darn near having to take out a loan to get specs. My eye exam is done locally then I turn round and order the glasses from Zenni. Super cheap and decent quality. You may have a similar, online outfit that services Australia... or they might even deliver anywhere in the world. The Frames + Lens (progressives) + anti-scratch coating were around US $50 delivered to my house. Beats the hell out of the $250 to $300 I use to pay.

Here's a link to the folks I use:

I can beat that - I have a bung left eye, apparantly I have had a hemorrhage in it at some stage and has dammaged my Macula, so i go to an eye specialist and to treat it, they lay me down in a chair and put what looks like a torture device over my eye to pry it and keep it open, swab the eyeball with disinfectant then injects me straight into the eyeball!! It hurts like hell, blinds me for about 2 hours and leaves a black dot in my vision for days. and if that doesnt hurt enough they charge me $900 each time and Ive had 3! Sad
