Beware of this site......
G'day all,
Just went to purchase 4 nuts for cowling on my Bandit from this site http://www.bikebandit.com/suzuki-motorcycle-parts/oem-parts as they were listed in our links section. It appears to be a well constructed and easy to find parts site. I found what I was searching for in no time but when it come to purchase the 4 itmes this is what they wanted to charge me;
Subtotal : $23.40
Shipping : $69.12
Tax : $4.68
Total : $97.20
I thought the shipping must have been a mistake so I went to the chat section and they informed me that the shipping was correct The subtotal was ok I could even handle the tax(without understanding) but $69.12 for the shipping is just theft. These are 4 tiny little rubber nuts with a brass inserts. Like they would fit into an envelope with ease As i said to the guy while chatting" I dont want you to put them in your back pocket and swim here with the fuckin things!" He did apologize and offered to forward them onto someone else but it seemed like a lengthy and uncertain type of setup. It's a shame as it seemed like a top site but shipping at that price is unreal. Just want fellow members to be aware.

Maybe try Ebay.
I certainly wouldn't pays his outrageous shipping fee

Yes it's a bit weird that. I find that a lot with Ebay. I think it has a lot to do with the postal path. Some stuff seems to have to do a migration across a couple of states before it leaves the U.S.

Yes they have always been now for there ridiculous overseas shipping cost. It's the first time I've heard of them in a long time.
What is the part you are looking for? The rubber mounted nut for the screen and fairing?

Re: Beware of this site......
It has to do with the USPS and the fact they may be pushing seller to use the most expensive express post service.

Yes Reardo that's exactly what I am after, do you know where I can get them???
The guy I chatted with from bikebandit did say they had only a few options with USPS but I have purchased heaps of items from the USA and never had anything like those shipping charges imposed on any itmes. Also, I have never had any type of tax placed on anything, well not at the USA end, only Aus duties.
It really is a shame as the site has a great way of allowing you to find exactly what your after, with serial numbers, graphics and all. But the tax and the shipping smells like a rip off.

Re: Beware of this site......
funny how some of the OS places seam like they are cottoning onto our buying habits. I've noticed that shipping prices are starting to rise and some of them quite dramatically of the last couple of years.
The BB dude sounds like he either couldn't be arsed getting better shipping rates for smaller items or doesn't want the business or charges like a wounded bull to make a few more $$$$$.
By comparison I just received a set of pannier racks for the Wee, 5 oil filters and a front sprocket. Total to my door was $10 more than just the racks up the road, shipping was $55 for a box about a metre long. Had to wait 5-6 days for it to arrive tho.

Re: Beware of this site......
On my previous Bandit (2006) the top fairing bolts were seized and required some time and patience to remove.
I replaced the rubber mounted nuts with "speed nuts" - I can't describe them exactly but Google will find you some pictures of them.
I would also suggest applying some anti-seize compound to make their removal easier in the future.

Re: Beware of this site......
I think those guys were just out to make as much as they could and I don't think they cared much about overseas sales. Like what was the tax about???? I just received a sargent seat from the USA and they charged me $97 for shipping a box approx 3.5 ft long. Top delivery time also.
I have some nuts and bolts on the way from ebay http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?VISuperSize&item=300604711837
I am hoping they will do the trick if not then I'll try speed_nuts.
Thanks for that.

Re: Beware of this site......
Hey Ross, my Google search only returned good and decent sites like the www.jnsaustralia.com.au site you found.
I thought I had seen most gizmos in life but some of the fasteners on their site are truly amazing.
On the other topic searching Google for "rivet" will return a good deal of info but resist the urge to search for "Golden Rivet" an old nautical term
