Re: Naked conversion??
A doner bike would be the cheapest way. Besides the obvious dash, headlights, etc, the wiring loom is different, good luck trying to source a full loom in good order second hand.
Will be interesting to watch the build (or is that demolition ?) - post pics.

Re: Naked conversion??
I dont think it would be that hard .I cut a huge bracket off the head stem which must have been for the S model . I also think the wiring loom will
be the same (i havnt looked ). I carnt see Suzuki making two types .A duel headlight with brackets ($100 ) good as done .
I've had the S and the N .The n has not got the helmet buffeting thing .Strange i know .Its colder but feels more like a bike to me .
When i had the s iwas busting for an N but they didnt import one .Looked more than once about making one .Had young kids so it never happened
surf used to be good then too .

Re: Naked conversion??
Over on the british forums they all claim that you need a new top triple clamp as you will need somewhere to mount your instruments once the fairing is removed
I'm sure that you could make a bracket to actually mount to the clocks but not too sure about the top triple clamp , maybe through the bottom of the bolt for the bar risers under the clamp
I have looked into doing it with new parts on my K5 2005 s but it was very expensive using bolt on suzuki parts to make it look totally stock $ 1800 - ish for all new parts
A donor bike would be the cheapest way and then sell off everything you don't need
Or just hunt down a naked version and trade yours in

Acording to the workshop manual there is a difference, mainly concerned at the front where there is a daugther loom for the headlight assembly on the S, where as on the N it is part of the main loom:

Do it, Do it
Google "thinstrom" for some ideas on how to attach gauges and lights and stuff. I know it's different and not a bandit but oculd lead to some inspiration for something different perhaps

Re: Naked conversion??
My main reason for doing it is the wind noise and buffeting off the "S" fairing screen. The Minister has approved the purchase of two aftermarket stock screens to cut n shut and see if I can fix it first, and has also approved the Naked conversion if required. I am using the bike daily now as we back traded from two cars to one.

Re: Naked conversion??
Cutting the screen down to follow the line accross the top does reduce wind nose and buffetting. Noise was still there but more a soft whoosh instead of what it was I found painting the screen black looked best (I tried grey/silver but couldn't get it right).
Mirrors are another source of wind noise and buffeting you might look into as well. I never tried it but bar end mirrors apparently work wonders in reducing it. I did try a ride without mirrors and there is a fair difference.
I also inverted the mirrors (think upside down) but didn't like where they ended up. Think I still have the bkts I made if you want them.

Re: Naked conversion??
If you look at my mirrors you will notice they are a cone shape .Got to be better than a flat side .(thanks Aprilia )

Re: Naked conversion??
Now you mention your mirrors Gus. I think they look a bit out of sorts with the rest of the bike. Maybe some nice black teardrop shaped ones ?

Looking to do the same myself, would love to know what lights, instruments etc you've used and brackets you bought or made.
