Vista Cruise Control Empty Vista Cruise Control

Post  Hammy Thu 29 Mar 2012, 10:37 am

Bought and fitted a couple of Vista cruise controls for Jans and my bikes. Jan has a bit of arthritis in her right thumb. Easy to install and adjust. Took both bikes out for a test run and am very happy. Great for those long boreing straight stretches. Highly recommended.

So this is just a throttle lock then? Not a true cruise control?

You wouldn't want to use it on anything but a long straight boring run.

What the chances of it being accidentally flicked on?

No chance of accidently flicking it on. You can still operate the throttle while it is on. A point that Jan was addiment about. So in an emergency you can shut down the throttle without disengaging it. Am pretty confident that you could keep it engaged through 100kph sweepers. Am looking forward to useing it.

I have had one of those on 3 different bikes, and wouldn't be without it.

Just one thing I have noticed though is you need to keep and eye on the 'mounting bar'. If it comes loose and slips down (and it doesn't have to be much) it does inhibit free throttle movement, which can be a bit disconcerting when you take your hand of the throttle and nothing happens.

Well that sounds promising. I saw these in ARR but thought it looked a little dodgy, being just a clamp.

Always good to get first hand info cheers

I`ve had one on my bikes for years & wouldn`t be without one . I`ve got rheumatoid arthritis ( and some osteo ) & being able to move my hand around a bit helps heaps .I`ve never had a problem with the Vista one , but my son bought the cheapy version & that wasnt as good .

Given the money the ZXR14 would be my next bike. Don't ride it as you may never want anything else. Not that i have ridden one YET!

Vista Cruise Control Empty How are the throttle clamps going?

Post  1952 Wed 16 May 2012, 12:13 am

Your last post about the advantage of these was really positive .. are you still as happy? No slippage? No corrosion? No unexpected issues? This looks like a good addition if facing a long ride .. (recently did the Hay Plains (again) - but in a car, and I wondered how the guys on the bikes that I saw were getting on holding the throttle for hours at a time in virtually the same position.)

No issues 1952. Money well spent. Even my partner , who is very caucious about such things, likes it very much. A must have for long hauls.

what about the time to disengage in an emergency situation? Ive got the Breakaway and that cuts out with the brake lever being depressed.... comes at a cost of course.

You can still throttle off without disengaging it in an emergency so that's not an issue Very Happy

I've got a B/Away as well 2010, just wondering if you have changed your hand grips yet or looked at Oxford style heated grips.
