gsx1250FA Cruise control
G'day,
I don't know how many would be interested in this but I have just installed a cruise control to my gsx1250fa. I know that some of the following info might be old hat but I thought it my be useful to some. The following is feedback I sent to the "MC Cruise" CIU stands for "Cable Interface Unit"
Here are the photos of the install onto my GSX1250FA, the first pics are after
I modified the CIU attachment bracket by twisting it and drilling a hole higher
up. I hope you can see the difference it made to the carb cable as it exits the
CIU, the later pics show the bend caused by the fairing bracket. I also had to
twist the actuator bracket a fair bit also because of the fairing mount. Other
than the fairing brackets the install was as per the 1250 Bandit except that I
didn’t need to remove the front fairing which was a huge benefit. I hope this
is usable feedback for you, the cruise works really well and the only adjustment
I think I need to make is to reduce a little torque from the CIU through bolt.
I find that after the bike has climbed a hill and the needs to drop off some
throttle I need to let the hand grip go otherwise the bike will speed up beyond
the cruise setting.
PS: I will try to upload the pics later Sorry my SERVING accout has been created but I can't log in with the password they gave me:x

Re: gsx1250FA Cruise control
An updated car like system, sounds like they put a bit of thought into this kit, particualerly the safety aspects, but a bit too expensive for me. An Aussie company though, their attention to detail show through when you look over their site :

That looks like a great product.

A mate of mine fitted one to his Kawasaki GTR1400 and reckons it's foolproof (safety) and is great for long distance riding. He's the sort of bloke that really digs deep into the electronics of things, and if he's fitted one, they must be good.

Are any of you using this?
About $10. Most riders I know have this. I do although I do not use it very often, just enough the give my right arm a short rest or shake it out a bit on a long ride.
nevermind....I found the KAOKO thread and it appears you do use it.LOL

Re: gsx1250FA Cruise control
If I may, I have a helpful little tip... I have put a small ty-rap though one of the holes and around the bottom of the unit. This allows me to tighten it up a bit if I find the throttle rolls off a bit while in use. It also stops it from easily being stolen although not much of a concern. But my favorite benefit is that you can use your thumb on the bottom part of the clip side (facing the rider) and just push the throttle lock back up to disengage rather than having to roll the trottle off completely. I did this once without the ty-rap and the thing shot off the grip altogether , over my shoulder and is sitting on the side of the road somewhere in Pennsylvania. LOL
