STEREO/HI FI
is anyone here interested in stereo gear as a hobby? [if it comes in a box for $399 for 5 speakers and a thousand watts that's not what i mean though]
Re: STEREO/HI FI
Not really as a hobby. But I don't mind a decent sounding system.
I currently run a set of Whatmough speakers with a Denon 7.1 amp. Previously had a Yamaha RXV2500 amp which didn't appreciate a lightning strike.
HIFI kit gets expensive is all I know

that's nice gear - and it can be pricey, although i dont think a lot of people have really ever heard somethiung halfway decent so they dont know how different it sounds from an ipod

True.. run any compressed music through a decent system and it'll most likely sound crap.
I know my car stereo (alpine head unit with 12" sub and front and back MB Quart 2 ways) picks up on poor quality input from my mp3 player.
