New PR3's & 24,000km Service
Just picked the bike up from CMC who did the 24,000kms service and fitted PR3's front and back. Total cost was $1,005 but I didn't think was too bad (I was expecting worse) as it included valve check and throttle body adjustment as well as plugs, oil and filter. And they do clean it up nicely as well including the chain.
Now all set up for the trip to WSBK - might start a new thread to see who's gonna be there and at least share an ale with you.

Do you know if the shims were within spec?
Probably a reasonable price for a high profile dealership.
How does it feel with new hoops?

Re: New PR3's & 24,000km Service
No adjustment required on the valves 4WA. But throttle bodies were adjusted - I can feel the difference but I wouldn't have said it was out of spec beforehand (just going on feel - but maybe I just got used to it).
New hoops = different bike (the poor old PR2's were shot with 16,200kms on them). New PR3's feel like the thing is on rails so after I scrub them in it will be interesting to see just how well they corner.

We always think new hoops are fantastic because we compare them to stuffed ones
Re: New PR3's & 24,000km Service
True. And before someone asks, the pair of PR3's contibuted $548 to the bill.

$548!!!!!!! ouch! they are good though.
i'm up for the 24k service shortly - it looks like you got a good deal on that, even if they did sting you on the hoops.

Re: New PR3's & 24,000km Service
As Ewok well knows, we pay Canberra prices here. Everything is more expensive due to our high average income. I just got stung $260 for a fkn oil change for my 6000km service. I think I will be doing my own servicing from now on. the prices on the tyres are consistent with quotes I had from this place.

I'll be doing all my own servicing and tyre fitting now. It's not that hard.

Glad i didn't get tyres at my 24k service. I paid $550 or so for the service, but not at CMC. Tyres, I go to Tuggeranong motorcycle centre, usually get a good deal there. TJ's at braddon are good too

Mine is due for it's 24k service so I rang a couple of places for a price.
1 dealer recons about $1000.00, my reaction? F@#% me.
The other dealer said about $600.00.

If the bike is right there is no need for a logbook service at 24,000.
I think mine was about $320.
I keep all receipts and can show a service history when i come to sell it.
I'll be needing a TB balance next time going by some vibes that have crept in so I expect to pay more then.

where abouts Badger? I need to know who to avoid!!
Re: New PR3's & 24,000km Service
Hey, Boomer
The $1000 service was a dealer south of Wollongong, said they would go right over the bike, replace all fluids, check valve clearance and TB balance.
The $600 service was a dealer in Wollongong. Same deal as the other guy.
I thought it might cost about $500 - $550, so $600 not to far away.
As far as I know the brake, clutch and coolant haven't been changed since new so they need to be done i guess.
I done the 6k & 18k service myself but the 24k is a little more involved, I've never done a brake and clutch fluid change before.

Re: New PR3's & 24,000km Service
Thanks Badger,
I'll do some ringing around Sydney shortly as I'm only about 3,000k away from the 24k service.
Wollongong is a little too far for a service! (although it'd be another good excuse for a ride).
