Wierd noise LH side of engine? Empty Wierd noise LH side of engine?

Post  2wheelsagain Wed 19 Oct 2011, 4:41 pm

Thats was me after pushing the lump half way up a hill to turn around and roll start after the battery shit itself!
I blame Gus Evil or Very Mad and his battery thread the other day so you owe me $75 which is your half Gus!
I was on a less direct ride to a well known fisn 'n chip shop at Port Albert. I shot some video of the Highland Hwy which I wont be able to use due to being up a timber jinkers arse about half way.
I pulled over in some shade to remove the camera gear and Black Betty wouldnt turn over. I actually thought it had hydraulic'ed the first time! Hit the starter again and it turned to the next compression point.
Backed it up a side road ane trued a couple of times to roll start without luck. Had the seat bag on so couldnt run beside and jump on.
It was cracking 30c and I still had my gear on but not for long. Pushed it up the hill on the highway and rolled it down and she fired in 3rd after a couple of rear wheel lockups (sorry chain and box)
All was looking good until I put the side stand down and let the clutch out a fraction before realising I was still in gear Sad It wouldnt roll start again. No
An older bloke was mowing the lawn 100m away and I knew he was watching me when I first started frigging around.
I wheeled the bike down to him and luckily he had a set of jumper leads (and a 350 Velocette in the shed alongside a 69 2 door Impala).
We fired the Bandit up no problem and I rode home to look for a battery. No luck on any shelves here. Looks like I can get a Yuasa online for $150.

Can someone confirm the YT 12A-BS is the correct replacement battery (07 - 08 Bandit)?

The bike is a week short of 4 yrs old and serves duties most days of the week. Its probably a fair effort.

Should I post this in ride reports? Laughing

Thanks Baz. I have the manual but OEM batteries don't seem available.
I think I have found the correct Yuasa battery.
Just anting someone to confirm its the correct one as it looks like I'll need to order one.

was your bike one of the recalled ones 2WA because if it was you could always say the battery packed up because of the charging problem & see what suzuki say ( might be worth a phone call ) might save Gus some money Razz

My bike is 4 years old ina few days time. I replaced the battery with a gell cell about 4 months ago after a similar problem at a fuel station. Gell cell cost about $85 from Batteries all types, maybe ring around to a proper battery shop and you won't get ripped off. If you are unsure take the old one in with you.

Every price I've seen online is in the ange of $140 - 50.
I paid $130 for my Falcon battery @660cca a couple of months ago. Once again tiders are getting ripped off. What info have you got RD?

Yeah I was them but couldn't find a match for the B1250. I had one in my RF900R too.

That Sux mate. You are spot on with the YT12A-BS. All the best in finding one quickly and at a good price.

Mate I have no doubt the compression is still as new. It was compression locking the rear in 4th sometimes.
The Bandit is too light over the rear. Its the first bike I've owned that I couldn't bump start. Evil or Very Mad

Thanks RD I'm pretty sure that's what I ordered from the blue who in town. A smidge over $100 and I won't have it until Monday.
The Yam shop rates them highly over the Yuasa. Good enough for me.
Thanks Mrs RD too Laughing
