Seat cowl....
First topic message reminder :
Ive been looking for a cheap seat cowl .Plenty of cheap cowl on E-bay but of cause none for a 1250 .
To get a solo rego i guess the pillion seat has to be plastic or fibre -glass to pass .
Since the 1250 seat is in two parts ,what about removing the seat from the bike .
Remove the front rider seat from the base .
Cover the rear section with a thick plastic bag tightly.
Fibreglass over the top of plastic covered pillion seat .
Pull fibreglass when dry ,trim ,sand ect .
$10 seat cowl
Sounds easy ????

I think the vinyl has to come off .I can see myself with a policeman shaking his head by the side of the road .Once is annoying but if it keep
happening its just not worth it .Anyway , may as well show show it off and see what reation i get .Gus's solo seat conversions
Silicon natural cure is CRAP .Takes days to dry if any thickness .

Excellent work Gus. I would like to see it painted the same colour as your bike. I found an auto paint supplier in Cleveland that has all the Suzi paint codes and does a spray pac for just under $40. I wonder if you could cover it with some of that vinyl , CF look alike adhesive. That might look ok. Anyway, well done, and a great saving.

Of course there is nothing preventing you putting the original seat back on, with pillion pegs etc (for aesthetic purposes) - who's to know, given that the single seat compliance plate isn't particularly noticeable. Just beware that if you do, then carry someone, then have a prang, you'll have no compulsory 3rd party injury cover.

Made another one for the Aprilia ,also made a new base so i dont have to pull the good one apart .Covered it in cloth but might get some
carbon fiber and cover it on that after it passes solo rego .

Re: Seat cowl....
I was told something disturbing yesterday by a bike Dealer that Qld Transport will be abolishing single seat regos in about 6 to 8 months time.
Yet to confirm this and the details surrounding it (like maybe its no NEW single seat conversions - dunno) but that is really irritating. Seems we are all doomed to have our $ flushed out of our wallets at every opportunity. Better stop now - I can feel a rant coming on.

I'm not surprised to hear that so i got on board while i could .Seeing your supposed to drill out the foot peg brackets (of cause i did )
i carnt see how they can start to charge you for carrying a pillion when you dont have a way of doing it . Hopefully if they pull the pin on it
they will say no MORE will be registered . With the Aprilia above i worked out a way to make them in BALSA and one layer of c\ fibre .
So ends that employment idea .

re seat cowl
we don`t have solo seat rego in SA but the " look " for people who don`t pillion may still be a market to explore with the right product Gus
