Lap around Australia
I have new lease on life and planning to do a lap around Australia late september. Im heading over to Perth from Adelaide then North then east. Has anyone done this trip before? would be interested in any feed back, any help much appreciated. I have done a few trips over to the superbikes and Tasmania so im not new to touring as such, it's the trip between big cities that may be difficult, or not? Will I need an epirb or is that going over the top? Any followers welcome, any cheap accomodation options welcome too
cheers

If your going solo then an epirb is never a bad idea.

Re: Lap around Australia
After doing some research, it looks like I will be doing the "big lap" anti clockwise as apparently this is the direction of the wind, I don't want to be heading into the wind for 15000km's. I have a spot satellite tracker, it will track me and put it on a google maps page, I will post the link so you can track my progress, it would be good to catch up for a few frothies along the way. I have been a bit slack on the forum lately as I have a new girlfriend that is taking up lots of time, not that I mind because she is good for me Righto, I will stay posted.... I am leaving on the 25th of this month, so it's getting closer and I'm keen as..........Cheers

Backpackers in Dunsborough WA is pretty cheap and normally the back packers are nice and friendly. My wife and I have stayed there a couple of times.
If you need a tour guide for the lower bit of WA sing out for some twisty action.

Rick,
I'll keep an eye on your blog and tracker. It'll be a while before you enter the SW of WA, but if you come near my neck of the woods and I can swing the time I can show you some of the local roads around Collie/Donnybrook etc.
Whitey1 didn't hang around my area long enough so I couldnt do the same for him.

@ dhula, I will go to the centre of Victoria and eat 12 dozen jam donuts
I had an easy ride yesterday, bit of a cruise thru the Grampians, then thru to Lockington.
Cheers

I run an airhawk, highly recommended, the seat is as hard as a rock. Also a lambs wool cover, It's almost like my recliner now

Re: Lap around Australia
is Airhawk is Good!
Thumbs up for these from me. One of the best things I brought for the Bandit. My legs get sore before my backside these days. If i think the Bandit is bad I jump on my Suzuki DRZ400E for 30 mins... then I think the Bandit's seat is awesome

Where are you Rick? The tracker doesn't seem to be working. Or have you finished your trip already?
