Yoke protector
I scored one of these the other day. There's 2 types: one is the self adhesive urethane sticker, and the other (which I got) is carbon fibre stuck on with 3M tape. It protects the yoke against key damage and I like the look

Re: Yoke protector
Hey Kewwig,
I'm looking into getting a yoke protector too after my Givi keys totally scratched up the whole area
I'm new to this - what did you have to take apart to fit this on, or did you simply stick it on?
Btw, I'm visiting Taupo at the moment and may hire a SV650 to do some sightseeing while I'm here!

Re: Yoke protector
Been looking to mate. The real carbon one with the 3m tape sounds like it sit up a bit on the tape, or is the tape really thin ?

Re: Yoke protector
I used carefully cut black filament tape as protection for the yoke and grey filament tape (almost the same colour as Alloy) for the front of the fork legs. I did this 3-1/2 years ago and it's still on and doesn't look too bad.'
Of course this is all long before I had a computer and there wasn't much in the bike shops over here.

It's thin carbon fibre held on with 3M tape. It's in separate pieces so nothing needs dismantling. It looks great and has worn well with keys and all sorts of nasty weather.
I use a quick release key ring for the bike key and keep the rest in my pocket so nothing flaps about.
Good luck for Taupo. Its 3 degrees here in Wellington, snow to sea level (virtually unheard of in Wellington), and snow blasting the country and will get worse. Be fun riding to work tomorrow!

I bought one just the same off e-bay, real carbon fibre and the tape it comes with doesn't make it sit high at all and hold it on well, they have others at Powerbonze

There is no such thing as too much carbon fiber.

I have one of these too and it works a treat. The new yoke on the GSX has a coating which seems to mark as soon as you sneeze in its direction.

No. The pic doesn't show it, but the pieces that go around the bar mounts are in 2 pieces. It literally is a rub with a supplied alcohol wipe, stick and walk away. 5 min job. Uneven fork slots?

Re: Yoke protector
I'm with you on this Gus. I don't know how anyone can have a bunch of keys dangling all over the yoke scratching the shit out of it. I use one key only, with the rest of the keys in pocket or bag.

Re: Yoke protector
Sorry I upset u blokes by scratching my brand new bike
The damage was done by A (1) house key & the plastic dealer tag. I had no trouble from keys on the CBX. The only trouble I've had with a bike key before was on the A100. the key hang on the side panel/battery cover.

Re: Yoke protector
I'm thinking of putting one on, probably the powerbronze one. Firstly because I think it will look better when I change to black Renthalls and black levers. Secondly because I do like the look of a little bit of CF on a bike. I'm a ONE key in the ignition type of guy . If anything, just a simple rubber key fob.

Re: Yoke protector
My mates all have Harleys with keyless fob's. I love the fob set ups. No need for bloody keys.

Yeah we heard about Wellington airport being closed due to the snow, it may be too cold to do fun rides here. Didn't bring my leathers this time but will ship my bike over if we ever move this way. Nice work with the blog btw.
I also got my yoke scratched also with the dealer's plastic tag before I had time to get the keys separated, this was probably 2 days into getting the bike. So mad.
