I want to make the spacer in the front fork about 20mm longer.Could i cut a piece of the right diam. PVC pipe 20mm longer than the steel one, and use
that so it is one piece, rather than the steel spacer and 10 washers.

Can't see why not.
I'm using a piece of PVC in the GSX650F forks. Not as the spring spacer to set preload tho.
Try to get the thickest wall stuff you can would be my suggestion.

Before you do tho, what is you reason for making the spacer longer?
If it's to try and get more preload which will help you with ride height/sag then might I suggest you seriously look into getting the right rate springs for your needs as making a longer spacer may risk the standard spring binding and limiting compression which will lead to poor handling on ruff roads

He said it Gus, you could get a set of 1.0 kg/mm springs from Cogent Dynamics for about $100 delivered, but on my Fireblade the factory spacer was basically just a piece of pvc.

I have had to wind the preload fully IN .Nothing wrong with that but it just looks so strange flat across the top. Would like to have it in
the middle so at least i can go both ways in adjustment. Its mainly the look i'm having trouble with. Springs are on the shopping list, soon i hope.

All in is about as good as it gets seeing as how the springs need about half-as-much again on the spring rate
