Re: Helmet Designs
You can get helmets airbruched with any kind of patterns or art you want.
The thing you need to be careful of is that the paint and prep work is done using chemicals/paints that are not harmful to the shell and structure of the helmet.
If you use stuff that is unfriendly to the helmet then all you end up with is an artpiece for the table or living room casue the helmet no longer has the strength to handle a stack.

Re: Helmet Designs
The more expensive helmets are painted. It's actually quite simple given todays technology, a 'robot' does it. On cheaper helmets it's a sticker.

No Owls
Was just looking at helmet designs and thought how one earth do they do that. Can understand air brush a one off but 5,000 .
Got to be some sort of transfer but what shape is it,there is not one flat surface. The pin lines are not raised .
Everyone have a CLOSE look at their helmets ,got me beat.

Re: Helmet Designs
interesting query Gus.
I came across this website http://www.helmetstuff.com/shoei-helmet-manufacturing.shtml
which states;
SHOEI Helmet Painting Process
Even if a number of manufacturing processes are fully automated, SHOEI now as before continues to rely predominantly on hand-painting as a means of maintaining the high product quality.
don't know how accurate that is, the SHOEI website doesn't really say how its done

Re: Helmet Designs
I don't know how they do it! I did watch a doco once which showed helmet production including painting, but can't remember the exact procedure - it wasn't stickers in that case though.
Suomy have some brilliant designs which are quite "out there"

Re: Helmet Designs
I know they used to paint them. Like hand painting pin lines on the old model BMW's.With the designs these days the procedure
must have moved on. Well done i know that.
