Re: Pushing it ?
Gus, my FA at a push was 326 KMs for 17.55 litres, I've turned over a new leaf as i'm tired of running out of fuel after many many gauge duels...I wish you well, make sure you carry a small jerry can and funnel in your backpack!

Re: Pushing it ?
I'm keen to hear how you get on Gus, s'pose you also may need comfy walking shoes and mobile phone fully charged with coverage...sounds too like it could be something for the big Darwin to Adelaide economy run, the one where a HSV ute won overall!

Re: Pushing it ?
The best mileage I have ever got (5.2lt/100) was on a highway all the way doing the limit and running those figures just now works out to 360km. I refuelled at 300 and I was shitting myself for the last 50k. Is there a reason you're pushing the 400km?

No reason .Dont think i'm going to make it .400 sounds so much better than 380. Hopping the hwy is open (land slip) has been closed.

Re: Pushing it ?
Since you are going to be taking an extra litre of petrol with you, you'll be fine
21 litres and 400 kms works out to be 5.25 litres per 100 kms. If you can keep your wrist under control you'll coast into your destination on the last of the fumes in the tank but you'll make it no probs.
DISCLAIMER (Gus, you need to read this bit)
Fuel capacity:
I have based my calculations on 21 litres of fuel exactly and have not taken into account if Suzuki's figures of 20 litres for the tank capacity is in fact a usable capacity and not total air space capacity before any of the pump, lines, float etc etc get put into the tank.
I've also taken that the 1 litre extra you will be carrying is infact exactly 1 litre
Distance traveled:
I've based my calculations on exactly 400kms travelled, not 1 meter more
So, if any of the above figures are in any way inaccurate you will be walking.
Me personally would be filling up at about 250kms cause I hate having to walk anywhere.

Re: Pushing it ?
I got close on my GSX650 doing a coast loop from Cooma and down the Brown and up to B Bay. Got to 300k before the flashing started. My bandit needs to be better tuned, as it's been getting some shocking economy, even riding sedately.

The usable capacity in the 1250 tank is 19lt

Re: Pushing it ?
Your quite right 2WA. Where the hell did I get 20 litres from. Musta been thinking about something else
Still doable at spot on 5l/100kms if you ride really really easy and only max out at about 90kph
Gus - you'll be pushing

Re: Pushing it ?
Perfect morning set of at 6am. Let me say first, trying to get 400kls out of a tank. I'm thinking i'll get 380 if lucky.
Bandit 2009 naked .Motor standard but with pipe no p\commander.Tyre pressure f36 R 42 psi. Fuel 95 premium BP as much as i can fit in.
Speed -Legal 100 in a 100 zone ect. No coasting down hills or anything silly.
Motor was started and run till it stopped.
Result total was---------. To add to the outrageous excitement all will be revealed at 6.30 pm tonight.
Anyone want to make a guess ?

Re: Pushing it ?
Personally I'd do a lap somewhere and see how close to 4.75lt/100km I was getting because thats whats needed for 400km on a tank.
Low 5's are fairly easy but I think cracking 4.something would be much harder.
Anyway its Gus's project and I wish him luck.

Re: Pushing it ?
O.k. here it is, and its a shock to me !
Total Kilometers manged when it spluttered to a stop--- 442.5
Breakdown was--307 till little bowser started flashing.
397 when bowser and last marker started flashing
442.5 when it stopped.
Bloody thing just kept going. Started it in morning and rode it till it stop ed.I was pleading for it to stop, tired, hungry, thirsty, hot but on it went.
According to the manual the figures make no sense. 45.5 kls from 1.6 res is it ? Anyway the numbers are right.
I have no speedo healer so those of you that have can take off so many percent. Even with that good numbers. Anyone up for the challenge ?
I filled up last night but managed to add half a litre in the morning (cold fuel ) before leaving.

Re: Pushing it ?
While the speedo is out when using stock gearing by about 7%, the odo is pretty accurate from all accounts
Gus you got 4.29L/100kms or there abouts.
I have to admit I didn't think you would make it past 400kms but there you have it. THe ol bandit can go over 400 kms to a tank when riden sedatly
That is pretty bloody good I recon.

Re: Pushing it ?
Well done - I think you showed a lot of self control taking it that easy for that long on the bike. Weren't you tempted especially when caught behind a slow vehicle to let it rip? Hang on I guess that slow vehicle would have been you!!!

Re: Pushing it ?
Lets just say i'm not going to do it again .Back to school day up here so had to be careful anyway. Trouble is i took a long time
to jam as much fuel in as i could ,so realistically the figures are pretty useless.
ON a trip i work on 20 ks per litre so its about right.

Re: Pushing it ?
Brilliant effort Gus. I'll be stopping around the 300 mark though. Any idea how much fuel you started with? Surely it was over 19lt the way you filled it.
