Front end noise on gsx1250fa?
Anyone else notice front end noise on their gsx1250Fa?
Dont think its the brakes unless its some ABS noise?? (dont know much about ABS mechanics...)
Hard to discribe but noise increases with bike veliocity and occurs with or without clutch or front brakes activated.
Could be wind hitting the front end or hitting the two side fork reflectors which come new with the bike.
Its pretty loud, enough to be heard through my Shoei.
p.s Bike is brand new.

Yes i have on the naked model .Thought about asking the same question a couple of days ago .Kind of like road noise you hear when a car
has large treaded tyres. Not coming from brakes or motor ,like its wind noise hitting the front of the bike .Never heard it
on any other bike. Can get quite loud and a little bit annoying. If i had to call it something it would be "wind roar". Does that sound like it ?
Seem to notice it more at about 60ks from memory.

Thats right gus. Sounds like car road tyre noise or a 4x4 with nobbies on.
Good to know its not just limited to gsx1250fa model.
Now, all we need to do is figure out what it is.
.o0O I'll order the beowulf as a backup plan.

I have a pipe on mine ,sorry to say you still hear it . Seems to come from around front wheel,no throttle ,clutch in, still there so no idea .
Had a few different tyres so not that . .Lets see if anyone else has noticed it.

I thought it was tyre noise........ waiting to change front tyre out & see if it's still there. It maybe a resonating through the fairing in some form or another, I've sort of got used to it now

I have noticed this noise also on my 650F. It has a hollow type sound to it?? Well if Gus hears the same thing on his naked, I hear it on my faired 650 and you hear it on the luscious new FA think of things common to all 3. I reckon its just road noise being amplified up through the forks and into the fuel tank. Must check to see if it changes full vs near empty tank.

Just ride on the rear wheel only and see if the noise still occurs I haven't noticed too much noise, but I do ride with earplugs.

Re: Front end noise on gsx1250fa?
Maybe we could try riding on different textures of asphalt to see if the noise changes .Bit of a concrete road near me ,might try that.Cant
remember if its there in the wet .Bet you anything it wont do it now i wont it to !
Here's a thought ,something to do with front guard thats common to all bikes . Yes,no,maybe?

@fullthroatle and Gus, good points and worth trying out.
I thought it wind hitting the air intakes on front fairing...
Four40, havnt hit first service yet so cant do mono test. But sounds fun
NZer, good point. Wonder if it happens on non abs? least we could rule that out.

Re: Front end noise on gsx1250fa?
The only noise I hear is increasing laughter on my bike
However I suggest you play around with tyre pressures. Up to 42psi and down to say 32psi and see if that reduces the noise. (32psi is way to low to ride with but it will tell you if its tyre profile or not)
Also cable tie any loose brake lines and wiring and cables around the front and guard.
Remove the reflectors as a test too.
I'd do one thing at a time.
Hope this helps.

Re: Front end noise on gsx1250fa?
*ABS = no difference
*Removing reflectors = looks nicer IMO but no difference
*Tyre pressures = rides differently, pitch changes a bit but still no difference
*Different brake pads (didn't change the pads for noise but thought I'd put up my thoughts) = no difference apart from heaps better braking
*Removing fork protectors (can only comment on the 650) = maybe a little but not that much
*Wearing ear plugs = can't hear it at all
*Nicer sounding muffler = what noise, too much fun riding
*Different tyres (BT016) = change in pitch but still there, oh and more fun riding as they seam to be a bit stickier and oddly appear to wear a bit more evenly so far compared to the BT021 I had previously
IMO the noise is a combo of road noise from the front tyre (and probably the back), normal mechanical noise such as wheel bearings and the like and perhaps a a bit of wind noise from around the rad and front of bike.

Re: Front end noise on gsx1250fa?
I was surprised at the winding sound from my bandit under acceleration, when my uncle rode past me on it.

Re: Front end noise on gsx1250fa?
on a straight bit of road, I swung from left to right (as if trying to warm up tyres .. althgough we already know thats not the way to warm up a tyre, quickly). You can hear the noise of the wind change, I thinks its just the wind noise generated in the wheel/discs.

Re: Front end noise on gsx1250fa?
I was surprised at the sound I heard whilst on my morning ride when a nut wearing nothing but a pair of Lycra shorts decided he needed a race line entering a corner I'd already committed too!
Maybe next time he'll turn his head and listen for the noise of another road user or better still look over his shoulder!
How much shit stays in them shorts anyway?

Re: Front end noise on gsx1250fa?
Went out today and forgot ear plugs .At one stage noise we were dicussing was quite apparent. Moved my head around to try to
isolate noise ,no good .Stood up on pegs ,lent over headlight (naked ) just louder. Then i noticed when the texture of the road
changed so did the noise .Heavy texture loud ,over a patch of smooth hot mix ,no noise and on it went.So its coming from
tyre on road ,could it be the noise getting "bounced" of the radiator and up towards out helmets?. Cant remember hearing it
on my 1200.

Can't say I have any unusual noise. However mine has the Bandit brake noise at the front, when the brakes are applied.

Re: Front end noise on gsx1250fa?
Ride faster and all you hear is Wind noise
I'd suggest better ear plugs. I have 26dB jobs from work and they are pretty damn good. I do get a little bit of noise from the front disks touching the pads, and if I put my head down closer to the motor the valve train is a little noisy. The fairing does buzz a little on my bikini fairing at certain rpm, but I just got used of it. Other than that nothing to write home about.

The noise isnt really a problem ,esp. with ear plugs .More curious to know whats causing it.
