I've decided with our trip to Tasmania booked it's better to get in earlier rather than later, I had debated whether to get it at all, I personally know of one person that ended up in ICU and then general wards for about a week but that was more to do with the drugs he has to take after having a Kidney Transplant reaction with any vaccination he has.

Booked in for Tuesday 15 June, the only day I could get a booking in the next 2 1/2 months that was on one of my days off

Booked in for 23/6. Will be astrazenica.

 Am currently doing car trip, jindy, mt koz, albury, deni,  Bendigo (or was), brigjt, omeo, paynesville, orbost, home.
Was 1 degrees  at Charlotte Pass this morning, wind chill turned it into minus 17 🥶

Had my first shot on Saturday . No big deal ,in and out in 20mins  ,back to work . . If your SURE you will get a reaction ,you might be able to talk yourself into getting one . If ,like me ,you think you have more chance of dying in a car accident on way home , you wont .
Get you shot, and lets get over this shit .
Yes i had the blood clotting one .  
One hundred and five people had the shot on the same day . Guess what ? yes , we are all still alive .
Covid isnt going to go away in our life time . Get your shot before you have to beg for it .

Not having a go, just interested in people's reasons/ thought process in making that decision

Had my first one a few weeks ago , and booked in for my second one in another few weeks .( The one they say may cause blood clots ) Having grown up in an era of vaccinations , Polio , TB , to name a couple ,both of which seem to have done their desired job of containing rampant diseases , I don't see why not , considering the risks for and against . Other factors I had in mind in my case , were , an assortment of drugs I take for my heart , and the ones I take to lower my immune system for my RA , the second lot making me more vulnerable to covid anyway .  I think that until enough people are vaccinated to give herd immunity , and hopefully before covid mutates into too many new forms the world will be stuck with it .

Still undecided on getting it or not. 

I've heard if you drink lots of warm water you have less chance of getting it  and I am in the tropics and I've heard the virus cant exist in the tropics cause it's too hot .

Here in NQ we are really blasé about it due to the numbers of cases we haven't had which is probably in - flu - encing my indecision about getting the shot or not .

That and the survival rates we have had here in Oz because of our public health system gives me a little bit of confidence. I maintain social distancing and practice good hygiene. 

To each his own . . . . so long as you understand and control the risk and are not going to hurt anyone else . . . kind of like riding a bike.

Tell that to the Indians . Ive heard if you put tin foil on your head the aliens can not read your brain . Tasmania is Covid free . if your thinking of coming over without a covid shot ,personally i think an insulting  to Tasmanians . Why should i get a shot ,when i live in a covid free state and welcome visitors from interstate who can not be bothered . No shot ,stay at home .

Where I live is a lovely, small coastal area. That makes it a prime destination for tourists, from the entire East coast.
Population can double on a weekend let alone Xmas, Easter etc. Tired of laying low and waiting for Pfizer, so decided to grab what we can when we could.
Next year I think there will be 2 types of flu shots available, the latest normal version and the latest Covid version.
You may still catch it, but, should be less severe.
Roll out is a joke, our doc's centre gets 50 per week, so with 5 centre, (250) and population is about 5500, that's roughly 5 1/2 months to get through the first shot .🤬

The attitude of "she'll be right" only works when it will be right, that you can control the outcome.  But unfortunately us Australians do not have any more immunity than anyone else in the world.  Yes we have our isolation which is good to a degree, but it also causes us to be more blasé, we still shake hands, ignore the social distancing recommendations, and honestly believe that it can't happen to us.  

Unfortunate the bug has not read our play-book, it's still running to it's rules, and with this latest Melbourne strain being an R factor of 5, not getting a shot is probably the worse idea I have heard for a bloody long time.  

Drinking lots of warm water, hoping on one foot, or saying it's no worse than the flu all seem pretty piss weak when you are watching your mum/dad struggling to breath on the other side of a plastic sheet in the isolation intensive care ward.   You might be right and it won't effect you (much), but you can still pass it on, pretty heavy burden to live with after you walk out of the crematorium. 

This is not the time to be only thinking of yourself.

Rodent, while I acknowledge your right to abstain I am surprised that your reason for not getting vaccinated is 

"because I chose not to"

I would have thought a decision made about something this important (to most of us) would have been made on medical/scientific advise, religious beliefs etc

I've just heard from a friend who lives just north of me on the kanamaluka.

He had his Astra jab last monday and has been feeling real crook ever since with abdominal pains and headaches.

He's a tough old weasel and won't go back to the doctor.

Probably a massive hangover   (sorry lol )

A couple of those reasons(1, 4) play a very small part in why I won't be getting it unless "necessary".

I'm the son of a massive hypochondriac and I don't introduce chemicals into my body that I don't feel I need because someone tells me "I must have". Just like my doctor who insists every year that I "must" have the flu jab because I'm asthmatic.

As I said Gus, I don't do peer pressure   Any of you guys can get or not get the jab and it won't affect me either way.......Good luck with whichever you guys choose to do
