Shoei GT Air 2
So after my 'mishap' at Eastern Creek and the fact my HJC helmet had seen better days I took the plunge and splashed out on a Shoei GT Air 2. I am loving it, it is quiet (ish) but the best thing is its lightness and peripheral vision. The only downside is it uses a ratchet fixing mechanism rather than a D ring so it makes the helmet lock on the Bandit a bit redundant.

Some of the helmet locks ( Aldi for one , come with a T shaped piece ( with a hole on the long end ) you feed through the ratchet section . You could use this on your helmet lock .

I got a previous years Wayne Rainey replica Shoei in 1992 for $50 less than a plain black version, over $200 off of the RRP, still cost me well over $500 back then

Wife complained about her AGV K3 being too tight for years. So she got a RJ's Apex 2, I lost 10kg and now have the K3.Chook wrote:gus wrote:I normally go in and ask if they have any last years model or older style ,colours. Re: Shoei GT Air 2
We looked at the GT Air 2 to replace our GT Airs that got damaged in our accidents last year. While a good helmet Shoei are now forcing you to use a intercom kit specific to the Air 2. The design of the helmet shell will not allow fitting of generic units.

This becomes an added expense when we already have 3 working sets of 20S Evos. My previous experience with helmet specific intercoms are they generally last longer than the helmet. Meaning you change your helmet and you make your intercom redundant.
For us we were lucky to pick up a 2 new GT Airs on a run out deal @$500ea

I've never had an issue with them fogging

I paid $929 from Helmet Warehouse in Yagoona. I am not quite used to the location of the sun visor mechanism but I am sure I will get used to it - it is a push / pull slider, whereas my old HJC had a push button to retract the visor which was quick and easy! It came with a pinlock insert which saved a few bucks - no issue at all with fogging.

I have the GT Air (1).
I bought it when they were clearing it out 2-3 years ago for $450. That is why I where a green helmet on a Suzuki.

Does one of your bikes happen to be a DR 650? I have an Oz mate who did a Guinness attempt and he has the same writing style as yours, so I'm doing some detective work.GSX1100G wrote:

Zackly what I did. I got a brand-new Arai Axxess, that's the entry-level model, for under AU$ 500 last year. No faults or flaws, just a redundant model, but still brand new. Nice colours, too. White, plus grey, and just a hint of hi-viz "yellow" (looks green to me).gus wrote:I normally go in and ask if they have any last years model or older style ,colours.
