Your 5 Bike Garage
First topic message reminder :
Pick any 5 bikes and only 5 past or present that you could imagine in your garage.
Bandit 1250S (the do anything bike)
RF900R (most under rated bike I have ever owned)
Single Cam Honda 750/4 (a classic without the oil leaks)
Buell XB12SS (for the uniqueness value)
Kawasaki ZX14 (last because I need my license!)
There are about 10 that could slot in at number 6
What's yours?

Only 5? I could definately think of more...
I couldn't part with Monique and Izzy..
But if I were to add to the stable, I'd probably start here..
And, a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine..
Then..
I like the originals, but one of these would be noice..
And maybe this one too from CobraUSA..
.....It would appear i have a bit of a thing for nakeds eh?

Re: Your 5 Bike Garage
Moto Guzzi MGS-01
Laverda 1000 Jota (got one)
Moto Guzzi 750S (got one)
Vincent Series C Rapide
MV Agusta 750S America
Last 4 are all eligible for Club Reg so could register all 4 for the price of one new bike, and just take my pick which one I rode on a given day.
And the MGS-01 isn't road-registerable, so would have to do some track days

Re: Your 5 Bike Garage
Bandit 1250 ABS naked - I lurve the torque curve of this thing. Alround fun bike.
BMW R90S - I have always wanted one, a true classic
Triumph Bonneville T100 - almost bought one over the Bandit but it just doesn't have enough 'go' and the tank is too small.
Suzuki DR 650 - adventurised with long range tank etc for touring the outback
Harley Road King - for laid back touring two up.

Re: Your 5 Bike Garage
1250S Bandit (current ride) all rounder & travelling
1981 Katana 1100 (wish I never sold it!) for Sunday morning cruising up the Atherton Tableland
XT 600 Tenere (the first one, another bike I wish I never sold) for gentlemanly off-roading and super-posing monos
BMW S1000RR superbike for serious scratching
Kawasaki Z900 in stock trim for a garage queen to polish up when I'm bored
Close contenders would be an original Z1000R Eddie Lawson Replica - I considered one in 1982 but bought a GT750 instead because the instrument cluster was neater and the GPz750 turbo, the only turbo that really worked.

Re: Your 5 Bike Garage
lol Al, I cna't believe you passed up on a Lawson replica for a GT750 on the basis of the appearance of the instruments. Did the front frame downtubes on your GT crack like many others?

Re: Your 5 Bike Garage
True story Grover! The GT had LCD gauges, the Z1000R was old school - remembering that at that time you could buy any number of Z1100s GPz1100s, Z1000J etc. The Z1000R was really not that 'Special' THEN. The GT - it was the original model - had the advantages of shaft drive and simpler maintenance (the under bucket shims were very long interval compared to the other variants). Yes, the downtubes did crack. So did the rear subframe. That GT ended up with a CB1100R rear ducktail, a GPz 1100 half-fairing (the '85 version), pipes, carb pods, rearsets, S&W Street Strokers, clip-ons........ pulled GREAT wheelstands. I bought another one a few years later for a courier bike.
If I'd bought the Z1000R I probably would have tarted it up and eventually sold it anyway. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Re: Your 5 Bike Garage
Hmmm that'a tough one! I'm assuming I can leave my Bandit parked out in the driveway with a nice rain cover on it. In no particular order:
MTT Streetfighter Turbine Bike
Brough Superior SS100 1936 model with the 4 speed Norton box
NR750 Honda
RC45 Honda 1999 (the last one's I think before the RC51 came out)
RGV 500 Suzuki 1993 (Schwantz' winning machine)

Re: Your 5 Bike Garage
Apart from "'cos it's there" factor never saw much point in the turbine bike. Gas turbines are not well suited to the on/off power delivery required and at 350 odd horsepower more can be obtained from a turbo 'busa (500 plus), as well looking at the MTT implementation I can't see that the very short and highly angled swing arm is going to work very well. Still, as a workshop ornament it's pretty cool.

Re: Your 5 Bike Garage
Well it's my garage! (in my dreams). I really love the sound of it. There's something weird with a bike whistling like that. I also like the fact that I can pull up to a kero or diesel pump and fill it up! Totally impractical (i.e. very American) but would be a blast to ride one.

Absolutely agree! Don't want to offend and agree there are cool aspects... now an afterburner would do it.
