4th gear stall

I have a 2011 1250 fa with 12,000 miles on it.  Have had a couple of times where it will be doing fine in first, second and third, then when i shift to 4th, lose all power, the low fuel light will blink.  Can shift to 3rd, and all will go back to normal.  Have noticed that this only happens after sitting in the sun most of the day, and with a full tank.  Anyone else have this issue, and if so, how do i resolve it?

Sorry ............new one on me . The only thing I can think of is something to do with the gear sensor ?????

Some aftermarket gear indicators had ATRE on them that did strange things to timing retard when in different gears, if this is fitted and was faulty it could explain a 4th gear issue ???

someone told me it sounds like a fuel evap problem. not sure, will try to open gas cap and relieve pressure the next time i am in the situation.  If it is cool, or if the tank is not full, it won't do it.

I recall there is a fuel tank breather which hangs down below the frame.

Probably worth seeing if it is blocked with mud or a wasp nest
