Pod filters Empty Pod filters

Post  Knighty92 Sat 30 Mar 2019, 12:51 pm

Hi chaps,
I’m sure I posted in here earlier but I can’t find my original post - unless I didn’t save it! So I’ve bought my first bike - bandit gsf 250v. I’ve just given it a full service - all fluids, new chain and sprockets too. I bought some pod filters and put them on last night and after research I’ve had the classic boggy throttle so immediately removed them and reinstated the old air box. What’s the best route to go down regarding these? I’d like to have them installed as I’m going down the cafe racer route. Will rejeting the carbs solve the issue? Shall I purchase some k&n filters (found some that fit other Suzuki bikes, not sure if they fit mine)? I’ve seen online some people tape them up too.. any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
Sam - Melbourne

Rule of thumb with removing airbox and fitting pods:

Bigger main jet-( on the 1200's, you go from 102 standard, up to 150ish+ as starting point)

Possible different pilot jet, then mixture screw adjustment-

Possible needle replacement, or at least moving the clips to richen the mixture-

Possible adjustment of the diaphragm spring.

To answer your question in the big picture, I don't specifically know what actually works on the 250.
I'm sure there would be a plug and play kit out there,  I just don't know how many on this site has dabbled in the 250.

If you got the time,  and like to fiddle, as stated, it's all achievable, but there will be lots of frustration setting it up being a guinea pig. Once sorted, it should be good.

Pod filters Empty Volumetric Efficiency..

I used to like the idea of fitting pods until I read Motorcycle Fuel Injection Handbook by Adam Wade. Page 21 talks about the airbox as an integral part of the complete design for an intake system.....
