GSXR1000 dash to a 2000 GSF1200S

Hi Guys, I am new to the forum and need help. I understand that this is a Bandit forum but I am building a '82 GSX750S Katana with a 2000 GSF1200 engine and all electrics and I am up to rolling chassis, engine and most electrics completed. I appreciate that this year ran a cable drive speedo but I want to run a digital speedo . Again, this model did not run a speed sensor, but '01 model did, so I have purchased a '01 engine sprocket cover, a GSXR1000 speed sensor and rotor for end of shaft, (knowing that I have to drill hole in this shaft). I know I can purchase quote a few aftermarket instruments like the Koso, Acewell, Dakota, Stack, Motogadget, etc, but I was interested in running a '07/08 GSXR1000 dash. Quite a lot of the wiring appears to be the same, other than the obvious differences such as GSXR wiring to the ECM. I could just experiment but I am concerned in the possible volt/current differences there may be that could cause damage to the gauge. Has anyone fitted a GSXR instrument panel to their Bandit? I haven't and I would not know where to start. But I want to say that if we can put a man on the moon then we (You) should be able to fit whatever dash you want to.

I'm not sure if it bother with the gsxr dash. The are plenty of aftermarket gauges available with pretty decent instructions. Failing that I guess you have to find a gsxr service manual and disect the wiring diagram. Good luck

Isn't the 1250 instruments/dash lifted straight from a GSXR?

This is going to be the problem, the dash gets most of it's information from the ECM, very little come direct from sensors/pickups around the motor.  Most of the sensors "talk" to the ECM and then a separate signal is shot off to the dash.  If it was my bike I'd try to keep the electronics the same so I'd use the 1200 dash.

Good luck with it, but it's a project I wouldn't even try.
