Gumtree Bandit

There has been a very rough looking Bandit (2003) on Gumtree the last week . (Huge 9'' headlight )
It looked about a 2 out of ten ,unknown mileage ,filthy , no front fairing due to it hitting a parking metre . Asking price $900
It's now living in my shed and i'm $800 poorer .
It hasn't moved for 3 years.
Now it gets interesting after seeing what I have bought home .

Dam is now dry,first time ever .

First surprise was that this headlight was fitted . 9 inch  Has LUCAS ,BIRMINGHAM , ENGLAND stamped on it .ITS HUGE

Looks like 1963 technology fitted to a 2003 bike - he must have had it lying about in a shed.

Next surprise was this under the seat . 1st owners name and service book with owners manual . Tool kit looked like it had never been removed .

At this stage the battery is on charge as I start to check things out .
WTF ! have a look at the condition of the underside of the seat . Top is as good .

Front sprocket cover reveals what looks like original sprockets and chain .

Battery is stuffed so I fit a spare and turn the key .
Now this explains why everything looks mint after a wash.

Have ordered a 7in headlight ($27) and will go naked.
Had it running ,badly , and found the float height had set itself (no fuel for 3 years at least ) at 9 mm instead of 13mm .
Fuel tap rubbers stuffed .
Tires good

It looks great already! And no I'm not coming up to buy it!!  Can't wait to see the finished product.

If the parking meter incident didn't bend anything ,looks like you have struck gold .........

This is like getting a new bike . I'm a bit confused .
Does this model have a plug so you can check C00- setting and error codes ?
If so ,where does the plug live .
Bandit 1200, 2003 model.

I thought they were just the old 1200 motor with more pollution crap on them ..................no C00- plug

Had it running ,new plugs that are not 14 years old might help though .
Still has the pollution stuff fitted . No wonder i couldn't find a plug then .
