Abandoned Bandit! Empty Abandoned Bandit!

Post  Ewok1958 Thu 26 May 2016, 5:57 pm

I left this morning for a trip to Canberra. The weather forecast was for a few showers, but I took the Bandit anyhow. Encountered said showers on the way up but next to nothing on the way back.  But obviously we had enough rain here locally to bugger up the bit of dirt road I have to ride on to get to my driveway.  I got off and walked her through a few really bad bits, almost lost her twice due to the surface sliding out from under her - lucky I didn't try to ride through those bits! I abandoned the exercise about 2km from home and left her in a neighbour's shed.

There are times I'd trade our cheaper rates for some bitumen!

Keep practicing, Dave.
You'll make The Dakar one day. Very Happy

Some motorcyclists are wise and some are foolish.
You're clearly the former Dave.
I can imagine what that surface was like. It tests my traction control in the dry Embarassed

What you can see in the pic is near the top of a rise. In the troughs the surface was pigswill!  You could barely walk through it without sliding over.  No way was the Bandit going to get through if I was on board.

Roads like that are fun on the right bike, the Bandit's a pretty good all rounder but mud or sand aren't it's stronger points, good decision to park it up IMHO

Ok, here's the thinking. Get a 1987 GB500 IOM TT special. Eligible for Club reg next year (saving $1000 per year). Put slightly chunkier tyres on it for those muddy days. Happy times!

Just took my drz400e for a run looking for some wood. Now that's what you need, don't worry about road bikes with knobbies, they are too heavy and not nimble enough
