Phillip Island WSBKs (2016 National Meet)
First topic message reminder :
Who's planning on doing the WSBK's in February, and who is interested in getting a house on the island?
There are plenty of options but we'd need to know who wants to join in to get a idea of what size place we'd need?
Going
Hammy + Mate
Ewok & Bev
madmax
Chook
reddog and Mrs reddog
Barry & Axle

Re: Phillip Island WSBKs (2016 National Meet)
So I'm assuming that we booked the house from Thursday-sunday ? That means a big Meet, Greet BBQ on Thursday night. A big, "I might have forgotten a few names" BBQ on Friday night. A "Saturday nights alright for BBQing" night on Saturday. And a huge " Bye, We must do this again" BBQ on sunday. Maybe we can slip a couple of breakfast BBQs in there as well. I think we are going to need a lot of MEAT !

reddog's Corolla will be handy for getting that, and the beer, and the beer, and the beer.....................Hammy wrote:So I'm assuming that we booked the house from Thursday-sunday ? Suggestion. We make up 4 teams. And we can have our own " Master BBQ Chef " . Could be fun.

We'll also need a lot of gas, hopefully the BBQ is connected to the mains and not running off a bottle

Madmax - "There's still room if you want to join us"
You guys are pretty close to capacity and there will probably be some latecomers who want to join in the fun. (I've also been known to snore and indulge in selfloving sessions involving liver and gerbils) so I'll start a second house. You can get a "surf shack" down that end of the island for less than a motel room.
There's only a café/bottlo within walking distance and the island doesn't have mains gas so reddog (and Barry) will need to arrive with a full tank of fuel in the mighty Corolla to keep you lot provisioned.

That should open up a whole new section in the " photos & videos " thread.#Tag wrote:

Keep your eyes off Max. He's ours ! We have 8 in the house. I think that is a good number. Pool comps. Card comps. Drinking games. Mud wrestling................ Sorry.

I was quoting Madmax, Hammy, not inviting him to the other house, believe me he's ALL yours!!!! Your house will probably have a 45kg gas bottle but I'm not sure that will keep you lot going for 4 days.
Paul, what happens on tour stays on tour, no photographic proof allowed

Beer + BBQ = gas
We have what looks to be a reasonable back yard, so the bbq idea and maybe a few blow ins should be fine. As long as tag leaves the gerbil show at home haha

Fair enough mate, but shite...
I've just noticed - you better move your KTM if you want us to come over for a darts comp.

Has anyone bought tickets already? After speaking to quite a few people we opted for the General Adminssion tickets.

Re: Phillip Island WSBKs (2016 National Meet)
Not yet mate but thanks for the reminder. I think we'll buy two 3-day passes, even if we skip a lot of the practice sessions it is good value and we can be selective about what we watch and what we do re sightseeing.

Re: Phillip Island WSBKs (2016 National Meet)
I've got mine - general admission.
They don't have grandstands at the Supers (except in the corporate tents)
Bar SBK is a tent with no grandstand, so GA seems the obvious.

Re: Phillip Island WSBKs (2016 National Meet)
The 8 for the price of 7 works out for the 3-day GA at $805 plus the one-off $8 processing fee, comes out at $101.63 each for 8 of us.
That's about $20 savings (remember the processing fee is now only $8 instead of $64 if tickets bought separately) - well maybe a fraction less as some of us would have bought 2 tickets at once.
I'm okay with a group buy for a 3-day General Admission, others ?
BTW, just to confirm the Bar SBK just gives you the possibility of a plastic chair and maybe some shade, drinks are still out of pocket ?

Good on you, why didn't you post that up 10mins ago!
Just got mine, took me 5mins to find a site that I could actually buy the tickets from. The first few just wanted me to sign up for a newsletter.
Anyway I got mine $123 3 day GA ticket with the $8 rip off fee.

I purchased mine about a hour ago, oh well, what's done is done, still a lot cheaper than most similar events

I'm ok with a group purchase of 7 GA 3-day passes with ticket #8 free. Bev and I would take 1 each. But if we have more than 8, Bev will just buy a Sunday ticket.
Correct, drinks with BarSBK are at extra cost. Plastic chairs and shade are first in best dressed. If the chairs run out and the tent is full, you have effectively got nothing for your money. As I said, Bev will bring 4 chairs in the car.
