Phillip Island WSBKs (2016 National Meet)
First topic message reminder :
Who's planning on doing the WSBK's in February, and who is interested in getting a house on the island?
There are plenty of options but we'd need to know who wants to join in to get a idea of what size place we'd need?
Going
Hammy + Mate
Ewok & Bev
madmax
Chook
reddog and Mrs reddog
Barry & Axle

Re: Phillip Island WSBKs (2016 National Meet)
It's pretty expensive to hire a bike. If I was coming over for a bit longer or had the time I would buy a bike over there and ride it home.
So how's the house hunting going? Are we laying down a deposit?

Excess if you come off is a lot worse than the hire, one was $5000reddog wrote:It's pretty expensive to hire a bike. If I was coming over for a bit longer or had the time I would buy a bike over there and ride it home.

I'd hire a car too at that price
Re: Phillip Island WSBKs (2016 National Meet)
@madmax Hopefully good news on that front. You should be able to negotiate a good deal based on the average age of all of us. And the fact we are all model citizens
@chook you are not wrong there, might have to sell a kidney. Looks as though a mighty corolla will be the go.

If it ends up expensive we'll blame you, you're the only one dragging the average age down
The Corolla could be handy for beer/meat runs
Re: Phillip Island WSBKs (2016 National Meet)
Ok guys just paid a $195 deposit (15%) for Mahalo on the island.
Price is $1305 or $217.5 each for the 6 of us.
Balance due 24th Jan
One thing I got wrong was extra people are $50/night so 7 people = 1505 or $215ea and 8 people $1705 or 213ea. He did say something about knocking $100 off if we got 8 people, I'll find out more later
Linen is $30 for a queen, $20 for each single, $20 for the girl to make up the beds and a $10 delivery fee (total for the house is $200) he wanted to make up the whole house. I said one we have finally numbers we can let him know what beds we require and not use all unless we need them.
I'll PM my banking details shortly

I can make it if everyone doesn't mind that I bring Axel along. I just looked at the web site and it seems it's okay with the owners as long as he stays out of the house and leave no deposits in the back yard

I'm ok with that Barry. Axel can mind the BBQ when the chef has to get another beer!

Re: Phillip Island WSBKs (2016 National Meet)
Sorry guys the manager just rang me to let me know that the house was actually booked by the same people who had it last year. The people had booked it for WSBKs but not the exact dates. The manager had promised him the property for that weekend and they had paid a deposit.
He has given us another house (larger), supposedly an upgrade for the same cost
http://www.stayz.com.au/accommodation/vic/phillip-island-gippsland/phillip-island-surrounds/113513
Location in south beach
This one the linen is included to all normal beds (not trundle, divan etc)
Same conditions regarding pets Barry
It has been reserved for us but I need to give him a confirmation email asap
I think we should take it

Looks great to me, in fact it seems even better, more facilities, a smidgen closer to the track.
PS I'll pack Axel's BBQ apron.

Yeah he said it was bigger with more living areas and better views and facilities.
As I said I think its a win, but its not entirely up to me.

Re: Phillip Island WSBKs (2016 National Meet)
Bummer MM. The bedding appears a bit second rate after the King, 2 queens and 2 bunks are taken, ie:
"There is a fold out single bed stored in the linen cupboard off the main formal living room."
"There is a fold out double divan couch and an Ottoman that folds out to a single bed."
My experience with some of those beds is that they were so uncomfortable that you could not use them, as often there is a bar or strut of some sort that gives you grief.
These people would consume all of the 'real' beds:
Hammy
Ewok
madmax
Chook
reddog and Mrs reddog
Which means potentially 2nd rate sleeping for Barry.

BEDDING configuration
Master Bedroom : 1 King Size Bed - Ground Floor
Second Bedroom : 1 Queen Size bed - Ground Floor
Living room : Fold up single bed - Ground Floor
Third Bedroom : 1 Queen Size Bed - Downstairs
Fourth Bedroom : 2 x Single bed bunks (4 single beds in total) - Ground Floor
3rd Living area : 1 Double Size bed Divan/Sofa, 1 ottoman single bed - Downstairs
That's seven people in real beds

You're probably right, but maybe the owner could just confirm that.
Also, can Bev come? It would provide some female company for Mrs RD and further help split the costs.

Of course (I see what you did there )
So that would be 8
any one else is in a foldout or divan and needs to bring bed linen

Sounds pretty good to me. In the advert it even says bedding is provided, just have to bring your own towels.
If everyone else is happy I think this is a good deal

I'll more than likely be packing my sleeping bag and (old army) camp stretcher so if the sofa is too lumpy I've got a plan B.
I'm happy with this alternate accommodation.

Just reading through the do's and don'ts, it said to use the Doggy Bags provided, I've never seen doggy bags big enough for Axle, think you better bring your own King Size Barry!!

Re: Phillip Island WSBKs (2016 National Meet)
reddog/mrs reddog (or any one else) are you guys just going to do the WSBKs or are you planning on doing the 2016 national meet in the Grampians the following weekend?
At this stage if you do, my daughter Kaylah (Dancing Pillion) will be flying to Melbourne late on the Thursday and we'll be riding to the grampians together Friday, she's as good as having adult company for another female.

Re: Phillip Island WSBKs (2016 National Meet)
@chook It'll just be the wsbk for both of us as we can't have another weekend off leaving our son with the family.
Our livers may not be able to cope either.

Ok it sounds like everyone pretty happy with this replacement, so I'll send the email to the manager in the morning.
