New member, Kuala Lumpur Malaysia
Hi,
Aznim from Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. Bandit 1250s for the last 4 years, only done 19,000km. So far so good with the bike, only did windshield upgrade, and bar riser. Didnt help much putting the bar riser, need to replace the handlebar which has that awkward and crap angle that cause pain to wrist.
Sargent seat on the way and hope that will fix another issue .

welcome klbandit, I think you might be our 1st Malaysian forum member
Re: New member, Kuala Lumpur Malaysia
Haha.. I guess so. The last 4 years owning it I only met one bandit owner. Based from importers info, could be less than 10 Bandit 1250s around. Which make me endangered species....

Welcome Klbandit.
Supabike rider!
I visited KL last year and went to the moto Gp.
It was then that I learnt what it takes to ride a big bike in Malaysia. Large capacity bikes are a rarity among the throng of 125's
We are lucky in Australia, in that once we have had a few years on smaller bikes we can step up to any size bike we like.
I learnt from our adopted taxi driver, that in Malaysia you have to spend a year on a 125, without accruing any demerit points. Then you can do a year on a 250, again keeping your nose clean.
Then a year on 500, etc.
Any points for speeding and you go back to the start. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
No wonder that we saw so few big bike riders.
You are among the motorcycling elite in Malaysia. Well done.

Re: New member, Kuala Lumpur Malaysia
Well the biking scene has been on the dramatic rise the last 4 years, mainly because price are cheaper now with introduction of locally/asian assembled bike (kawasaki versys, er6n/f, yamaha XJ6 range, Honda CBR500 range, suzuki with the gladis and recently Vstrom 650x). Even BMW 800GS range and Ducati Monster, Multistrada are all now locally assembled.Bosco15 wrote:Welcome Klbandit.

The Government also allows used bike which is less than 3 years old to be imported to Malaysia. So u can also alot of UK, Japan and even Australia spec superbike sold in Malaysia. My Bandit is originally from the US.
As for bike license, once you got your learner license, no restriction yet on the cc, you can straight go above 1000cc... . I did that.
Hope i can post some pix during the weekend ride.

Yes, the Kawasaki 650's (Versys, ER6n and Ninja 650), the Honda 500's and 650's and the BMW 800's are made in Rayong, Thailand.
I just wish that the Suzuki 1250's were made in Thailand

Welcome klbandit. My family and I were in Malaysia to watch Casey Stoner in his final year. Lovely place, we even meet Valentino Rossi at the hard Rock cafe as we were staying just up the road at the rendezvous. As stated by others there not many big bore bikes in Malaysia, so you must be like royalty when you are on the roads

Royalty on the road?
Nah... Sunday ride yesterday, there are hundreds of superbikers on the road. Didnt manage to get any pictures though. And can rest assured theres only one Bandit there...
Anyway, got my sargent seat in time fo my Sunday ride. My verdict - should have done it much earlier, perfect for me and strangely it reduced the pain on my wrist. Enjoying the bike again, earlier was so tempted to get the vstrom 650x.

The vStrom is a good bike, but has nowhere near the torque and power of the bandit. It'll be interesting to hear how the bandit handles the humidity and lots and lots of rain

Re: New member, Kuala Lumpur Malaysia
Never had any problem with regards to humidity be it on EFI or carb bike. Rain is welcome especially now when its alot hotter and humid. I did rode once from KL to Thailand, weather change dramatically from one district to another. It was full rain gear in one area, few minutes later it was bright and sunny.
Bikes rides perfectly in heavy rain.
