Project Bandit
Hello brothers n sisters. Just today picked up a 2010 Bandit 1250 with a PTR power up kit. Apologies to those in Sydney for the rain... its my fault. Really looking forward to blinging this baby up. I guessing all the help I need is right here.

Interesting http://www.ptr.com.au/engine-packages/ 136hp Which is about Reardo's mark.
A shame they're still 50kg over and with average suspension to anything close.

Interesting to see they don't list headers in the kit.2wheelsagain wrote:Interesting http://www.ptr.com.au/engine-packages/ 136hp Which is about Reardo's mark.

Total Ride in and Ride cost $3,200.00
Re: Project Bandit
Wow, am feeling very welcome - thanks all. Hammy - I was told that when i grew up i would could ride a bike. Glad i didn't wait for that to happen....
It's a heavy beast alright. Suspension is average too - you are right. And pretty porky for sure. Brakes also gonna need some work. But that engine ... whoa. 2nd gear acceleration is pretty special.
Had a 919 hornet before this. It had its shortcomings too out of the box and it ended up a beautifully well balanced machine - both to ride and in my eyes, to look at. But the basics are there for a terrific street bike on both machines.
Thanks retardo for the spec wrap - I have seen the ptr info. This one has a two bros pipe instead of yoshi, but the rest is there. Next step is a set of drag bars. Going on asap. I'm tall and cramped almost with those bars right up at me. Will post a photo. Love some opinions. Suspect I'm gonna get them.
Already having fun.

Didn't put the spec's up for you in general, Hence tagging 2w. Put them up to high light there is no headers listed in there kit.licenseandregistration wrote:Thanks retardo for the spec wrap - I have seen the ptr info. It seemed, before you come a long. That high flow headers were needed with other parts to achieve around 130hp without cams.

*Arrow race headers with Yoshimura TRS.
*PC3 with the supplied map and these mod got 123hp with 115nm of torque.
*Neville Lush Racing custom tune = 130hp with 125nm at the Tyre (Standard 98hp/108nm).

I think the main issue with the headers is the 15kg they weigh.
All that extra mumbo is still wasted at night when you light up the Suzuki candle
Before anyone thiks I am. I'm not knocking the mods or anyone who does it and PT is a Suzuki god so all will be good there.

Re: Project Bandit
Reardo - sincere apologies for spelling your handle wrong - that was a genuine typo believe it or not. I spoke to the ptr boys before buying this thing and asked the very same question. Their answer was that very few were made for the bandit at the time, but also it wasn't what they were aiming at. I can't argue with the results. I have ridden some bikes and this thing pulls hard and clean.
2W, bit depressed to hear thats what they weigh. Looks about right too.

I didn't weight mine when they came off for a warranty job but they felt like 15kg. I do know the stock canon is 11kg (2007) and I replaced that with 2.2kg lol.
Your Yoshi is probably about the same.

I looked in to the Yoshi cams, But there is no real info available. Like power & torque figures & at over $1000.
I like know what I'm getting.
Do you have a power & torque print out?

I weighed mine with headers and titanium pipe. 240kg fully wet, that's full tank too. Those headers and pipe weigh a heap. I will weigh them separately and post pics.
Btw the new bike battery I bought for my dirt bike is a lipo. Drops 2 kgs of weight which is pretty impressive considering the stock lead acid is 2.6kgs

Re: Project Bandit
You guys are awesome. Wish i'd found the bandit sooner. Thanks reddog - never would have looked at the battery to save weight, but will now.
No dyno results for mine i'm afraid. When/if i track some down I will post.
Have seen plenty written about the virtues of a fork brace - any thoughts?
Thanks.

I had a fork brace on my 1250. It does stiffen up the front and cut out wollowing in the sweepers.

+1. I have Dale Walker's one and it helps with front end tracking and stability when pushing hard
