So I dropped a bowel of one of my carbs to check jet sizes. It would seem that she has stock jetting even though she has a Scorpion pipe.

I got hold of the specs of the Holeshot stage 1 kit with airbox mod. Im not sure I want to do the airbox mod.

Does the airbox mod make them a lot nosier? From Ive read you lose a little down low but gain a lot up top.

Has anybody got the specs for the shim washers? Can you get them from Jaycar?

So along with some other bits I will do while shes apart I will fit new air cleaner, cam chain, plugs etc. Probably pull the Pair system to.

So without airbox mod I will go for 105 mains or if I do the airbox mod then 110 mains.

Holeshot recommend #17.5 idles for sea level which I live at. So will do that to. Will also keep an eye out for the advancer to.

I have not done the airbox mod but would suggest a higher airflow filter than the standard. A K&N or similar type. The jets sound about right but there are other things that may have to be upgraded as well in the carbs. Best of luck.

Will stick with the stock filter and it seems it can flow more HP than the bike can make. And K&Ns seem to let more dirt through.

Interesting thread here on jetting but long.

So started on the re-jet today. Ive got the flu so just taking it easy.

But turns out as the bikes got a Hyabusa shock, I have to remove it to get the airbox back enough to pull the carbs.

So Ive just moved the clips on the needles to full rich and we will see what that does.

Will do it properly once im well.

Did you take them out sideways or up?

Well did the rest today. Made the hole in the airbox and fitted the bigger jets. Set the float heights.

She fired for a second then stopped. Wont start now. Battery flat. Im guessing shes much easier to flood now.

Waiting for the battery to re-charge.

Best place for needle shims is a model shop.Tamiya do a pack of shims that are perfect for the job.

This mod should not make it easier to flood at all. My 1200 was modded and I never had a starting problem.

Turns out with new jets it filled the airbox with fuel. But when I changed it back to stock its fine. Odd.

So next week I will get carb kits and new air cleaner and start from scratch.
