Do you have Gumtree up there Gus ? or ebay may be worth a look . Bikesales.com unlikely but worth a look . Sometimes Motorcycle trader has some cheapies at the back of the book ( I think you can get them on line now )

Go to ebay. Motorcycles. Preference: Lowest price first.

Re: Progect bike's........
This old beast is was still available when I went past the other day (date of original pic is August 2012). It doesn't look like it would be worth $1,000. Just let me know if you'd like me to check.

Re: Progect bike's........
I only just started thinking . Anything with 4 cyl is out . Just too many parts $ wise .
Something small would be nice , 200 to 500 cc ---- One or two cyl .
Thanks for the help .

Perhaps something like a Yamaha SR400?gus wrote:I only just started thinking . Anything with 4 cyl is out . Just too many parts $ wise .

There was also an SRX400, which looks very racy.
Both may be hard to get though - a low cost one is sure to be looking very 'used'.

Re: Progect bike's........
A bit adventurous, but how about a Cagiva Mito or Aprillia RS125 frame with a 250cc 2 stroke enduro motor. Shud be good for 50 RWHP with around 100Kg of weight.

Re: Progect bike's........
Now here is a project bike with a few challenges.
I'm sure it is well within your price range Gus although it would probably need a bit on cleaning up.
The bad news is it is a little way up the road at Winton and also I'm not sure if the owner wants to part with it.
I went for a ride with a few others today and visited a guy who had just imported 20 old Moto Guzzi 500cc bikes.
I'm not sure they would be fun to restore given that after market parts would look totally out of place and also the asking price was rather high.
